I believe their creativity has faded away. As people get older creativity dies for the vast majority. Spending years basically playing the same songs over and over on stage must also have a negative effect. During previous decades both Jagger and Richards have also spent a lot of time collaborating with other artistes.....not a bad thing in itself....but it must effect the J/R creative process. I

I have always assumed (yes this is an assumption) that "Memo" is one of the very few songs that was deliberately written to "order", to fit the film "Performance". The words of the song do seem to fit the characters and the scene in which it was used in the film. If I remember correctly the song (film version, which is not by the Stones) was not heard until the

Well if I remember right he was on stage at Wembley, London in summer of 1982 along with Ian Stuart.

I disagree with the comments above by DCBA. Ringo was not “lucky”, he got the job because he played the drums well and fitted in with the others. He got the job on his own merit, his skill and character. He also took a risk, to move from an arguably more established group to the upcoming group. People get on in life because of their skills and attributes and also because they are prepare

I think the Stones tour because they love (or are addicted to) playing together before a live audience. They do not have to tour to do this. I could see them playing in smaller indoor venues (which is how they played as they rose to fame) in one location and possibly linking this in with some sort of TV broadcast. I do not mean a Las Vegas type residency. Almost like a live Ready Stea

You have done some excellent research here, and so it might be worthwhile to contact Nico's web site for updating as he has the dates as June 1962 and does not mention Charlie on drums only Ginger Baker. Thanks for this great read and adding to known early Stones history.

Mmmmmmmmm ! Thank you for the update JohnnyThunders but I think you need to also check track 27 on CD 2 which you have titled “Useless Information”. Obviously a major new discovery ! Should it in fact be Satisfaction ? It doesn’t inspire confidence that Reelin and Rockin is in fact a Luxembourg track.

According to the web page from the link above, Reelin and Rockin on CD 2 is a rare Radio Luxemberg recording. Is this correct ? However CD 1 lists only 26 tracks but gives recording details for 28 tracks ? So how accurate are the recording details here? Any information anyone?

This "find"...after all these years....is a great recording. Just listen to the young Charlie, Stu and Brian go for it. Wow ! But it also raises interesting questions. According to Nico's database, there are only two entries for "Down In The Bottom" by the original Stones ; 25th May 1964 BBC : Live recording for radio in BBC studio 11th June 1964 Chess : Studi

I would not now cross the road to see Rod. In his day he was very good but I saw him pre-covid in UK a few years ago (2018 or 2019 I think) and his voice was weak. His show was more caberet than rock n roll in my opinion and he forgot the words to Maggie May.....say no more.

Quotegagiwh England 1970 tour They didn't tour England in 1970 ? Either 1966 or 1971 were tour years in the UK. Also tours were not given "names" at that time.

Quotegeorgie48 QuoteKingbeebuzz Yes Georgie 48, I follow your reasoning but on the issue of any doubts about a successful Hyde Park concert I think, for once, you are off the mark. The Stones were very big at that point. They had Jumping Jack Flash, Beggars Banquet and pent up demand for a live appearance behind them. There was no way Hyde Park was going to fail. Young people flocked from all

Just to clarify......the picture above posted by Gaslightstreet, was taken in daylight. The Stones waited until the sun went down before playing therefore this picture is not of any events that happened when the Stones were on stage. It is however representative of the violent thugs who were there that day.

Yes the sound has changed.......just as it always has. The Rolling Stones 1 (with BJ & Stu) Stones 2 (with MT plus horns plus backup vocals) Stones 3 (with RW plus horns plus backup vocals) Stones 4 (without BW with DJ as substitute) Stones 5 (without CW with SJ as substitute) The Stones we have heard across recent decades are ALL versions of Stones 2. When backup vocalists, plus

I think the poster above is genuine 1971 because it has a thin blue line on the bottom edge to the right of John Pasche signature, below the car wheel. If you click on the flicker links you can see it more clearly and the poster at the top of this thread (posted by rockerparis) has the same blue line. I would be very interested to hear Matt Lee's opinion. Again, thank you to all who

I understand that the original 1971 Stones' UK Tour poster may have been reprinted in 1978 and in the years since then. Is it possible to tell the difference between a reprint and the original ???? Can anyone describe the differences please...... Many thanks for any help with this. I do not have a photo but it is the poster with a car on a mainly green background by the artist Jo

I do not believe it was ever officially released on vinyl. There may be two different versions that were made but even if you joined them together they probably would only run for about 60 seconds......not long enough even for a 1960s vinyl B side. Remember that communication was not like it is today and these jingles were not used for very long. As the Stones fame took off these jingles were
