MICK TAYLOR BAND

Rick's Place
Barnegat, NJ

1987-07-06

Mick Taylor : guitar, vocals (tracks 03, 05, 07)
Max Middleton : keys
Wayne Hammond : bass
Mike Cullen : drums
Angelo : percussion, congas

00. tuning
01. Tusks
02. Hot Water Music
03. Blues In The Morning
04. Goin' South
05. Baby What You Want Me To Do
06. Giddy Up > Band introduction
07. Soliloquy
08. Can't You Hear Me Knocking (23:06!) thumbs up
09. Third Stone From The Sun

TT : approx. 103:15

Source Notes:
- a 'billydee' Soundboard Beta/PCM Master

Recording lineage:
Soundboard (stereo mix) > Sony PCM-F1 (@16bit) > Beta video recorder

from billydee:
"Special thanks to Nicky C & WR for doing the PCM transfers and related processing."

from bomb:
The were many variances and fluctuations in the mixing. Numerous focused level adjustments
were made track by track, then the channels were mixed in varying proportions (changing at
points within some songs in response to huge fluctuations in what was sent to the tape) to
achieve the best balance and consistency I could find. Additional targeted level adjustments
were made to my ending mix to address some remaining fluctuations/output changes.
Thanks to billydee for recording and all involved in bringing this back for us.

Mickey's & Tapers' Notes;
Recorded from the real privilege section of the venue. Despite the poor acoustics at the house, it turns out to be one of the best recordings this year. Mick & his band was on top form. They showed a TWO AND HALF AN HOUR performance in total;the early show (50 mins )& the late show (100 mins!!!). Mick's vocal is strong and convincing. His silky smooth blues guitar still blew me away. Just take a listen to You Shook Me, Alabama and You Gotta Move!!!!! These three tracks alone are worthy of checking out on Saturday night. LOL

Please support Mick Taylor, Max Middleton, Denny Newman and their music. Currently they are on the road for UK and North American Tour. Further info about their tour is available at the following sites;

I ask every taper to go check their shows whenever they are in town. If you like blues and Stones music, I am sure that you do not wanna miss it.

Mick Taylor Montauban, France, Rio Grande, 2009 october 24 aud SM master

I went to Montauban to see Kristof31 and Zuo and meet also Doobie1, very nice; why ? Mick Taylor was playing this place !
I organized another meeting between my vintage Beyer mics (a come back) and modern Zoom H4; they apparently made a good team.

Mick Taylor - guitar, vocals
Max Middleton - piano
Kuma Harada - bass
Denny Newman - guitar
Jeff Allen - drums

01 Secret affair
02 Twisted sister
03 Late at night
04 Loosing my faith
05 Stop breaking down
06 Burying ground (Denny Newman during Mick's shower)
07 Instrumental
08 Fed up with the blues
09 Love in vain
10 Can't you hear me knockin'
11 Band and local crew intros, crowd
12 No expectations

Recorded from balcony using Beyer dynamics M 201N mics, XLR cables, Zoom H4;
As XLR does not clip, one slided from the recorder and i had to do a mono repair at the end of 02 and begining of 03.
Zoom card; PC; audacity for volume, repairs and tracking; FLAC

Samples in comments.

There was a local FM broadcast of the show: CAN SOMEBODY LIVING IN MONTAUBAN HELP US ? PLEASE !!"

Recorded by the great LETSGO so smileys with beer to him!

Notes: Recorded from Section E row 41 (Ronnie's side on the floor). My seat was supposed to be
quite a bit further back on the field, but they upgraded a bunch of us to the front section, so I ended
up being much closer than expected. Despite the threat of rain and that there had been storms earlier
in the evening, the weather was perfect for the show. I just love the fact that these guys are still going
strong and are capable of putting on a sold show that is very entertaining besides the fact that they are
living legends. Catch them while you can, and you won't be disappointed. Long live the Stones! Enjoy!

Ladies and Gentleman The Rolling Stones! As much as I like the Stones they have not been a priority for me to see over the years. Last time I saw them was in 1981 and it rained like crazy at the Cotton Bowl that day. I think they call it Zip Code because the stage was in one Zip Code and my seat was in another. I can't remember the last time I was that far away at a concert. The show was great, a lot of energy. However the acoustics in the stadium leave a lot to be desired. Still all in all the recording came out decent. Not my best but not my worst"

Recording notes: Overall , a very good recording. Minimal crowd noise/chatter. (The Normal for an outside event ) . Tixs in section 114. Lower Field Level . Straight back on Keith's side.

Kept mics placed on my glasses and in line with a stack at the end of the field . You will hear me clapping at times, and even hoot and holler .(not much)
When in Rome, Do as the Romans Do...and I was caught up in the moment. ( I am a Georgia Boy, it just comes out naturally at times )

Personal notes: I've seen the Stones 6 times now , and I rank this show up there with the 94 Voodoo Lounge show I saw.

Concert notes: Good Performance. No rarities like the Columbus, or Dallas shows , but "Some Girls" was cool to hear. Mick made several Atlanta, and Georgia references.
"You Gotta Move" was very cool when Keith sat down with a Slide and Acoustic. The Band had fun and it parlayed into the crowd.
Even when they made a few intro mistakes and stumbled through "Some Girls", they laughed it off. Mick compliments the GA crowd at the end of "Miss You" .

enjoy the show

Imho Edtyre's the best. It's a bit bassy/boomy but once you've cut some of the lows it's quite nice. The matrix is harsher (a bit bright and metallic) and the very 1st tape (the one that ended on TTD) is far behind.

Thanks dcba for your input.

As for the first one from TTD i find that the volume drops at times at beginning.
Of course this is my onw opinion.

And now there is a forth source (uploaded on TTD). It's the best in my opinion and it was also shared as 24bit audio. So I guess I will have to do a new matrix winking smiley
