I hope it's released soon then. Seems Christmas won't be the same without it.

Why no Christmas this year?

Because of no L'Olymia box. Sure, I'll have Leeds to tide me over but this boxed set would have been nice to listen to while peeling the parsnips.

We need this more than a christmas tree. I hope some generous soul is to find to share this recording with us. He will be blessed forever and ever and ever and ever and...

I like vinyl, but prefer CD for ease of use. So IMHO a stupid move not to make a CD box.....

I think that's the point. The Brixton CD didn't sell well because it was widely shared. After all, it only needs one person to buy the CD and share it and everyone on the planet can get it for nothing.
Releasing it only on vinyl makes it a little bit harder (but not impossible).

Ten years ago I tried to trade some old Beatle boot CDs at a well-known used record store that carried vintage vinyl boots, and they didn't want the CDs because downloading was whacking the market.

Quite the contrary.
I find that smart from the bootlegers to issue this release on vinyl to counter the "sharing" process.

It's not very effective though, all someone has to do is digitise one copy and there it is..........available for sharing again.......plus they miss out on all the sales to people who like collecting silver disc sets...........

The problem for me with these bootleg vinyl sets are the price... They never go for under 100 Euro... That's a bit too much for me...

You are wrong on all the line imho.
The shared version will be with vinyl crackles so a downgrade version... and the collectors will buy the CD release anyway if the label decide to issue it on this way.

Well, I was working on the assumption that a brand new vinyl wouldn't have much in the way of crackles..................and the assumption that the premise of the conversation was that the producers weren't going to release a cd version at all.............

Eiether way, even if you are correct about crackles....I'm sure everybody would prefer a shared crackly version (if that were the case) than nothing at all.........my point being that releasing it only on vinyl is not going to prevent sharing, which you in your original post suggested it would.........and was why you thought it was a smart move.......

If it is released on vinyl only, it will be on here soon enough and people will be glad of it, crackles or no......until such time as it is (if it is) released on CD straight from the master copy.........

How long will it take before it WILL be transferred to CD by someone and shared? (I already got it offered to me....), but that wasn't really what I wanted to express with "for ease of use".
What I meant was that you can rip the CD, burn a copy (or put it on a USB stick) and take it with you, in your car or wherever, to listen to it.

I know "CD only" releases will let the bootleg market crash, but I also know that vinyl is making an immense come-back, and many people will go for it (even those who used to buy/trade/download bootleg CDs).

But...... Prices are pretty steep! When you want a Rolling Stones "deluxe" edition or something similar, you better ask your wife first, LOL!!!!!

And when it's just to collect and not even open the box to listen to the LP's like my friend Luc (Tioms) is planning to do with his copy, is not unlike many other collectors who's bootleg CDs and DVDs are still wrapped and have never been listened to.
(and I know a couple of people, in person, who ask me for a (downloaded/traded or the occasional "Silver" that I buy) CD-r/DVD-r copy of an "original" bootleg CD/DVD they bought but don't want to open)
.
