POST: The Rolling Stones Story BBC 6 part documentary 1973 narrated by Alexis Korner (FLAC) - Now on Rapidshare. mp3 added
Posted by: Deltics ()
Date: August 14, 2010 01:23

This series was originally broadcast as six weekly one hour episodes starting on April 7 1973 to mark ten years of the band.
I well remember listening to it on my Dad's new stereo with the headphones clamped to my head while the rest of the family watched TV!
It was recently repeated by BBC 6 music and I recorded it as wav files.
The series has been posted here before by Zagalo in MP3 (which still seem to be active), but the problem with that is that you can't easily resume where you left off from if you're interupted for any reason.
For that reason I've "track edited" it so that you can.
But you'll need six blank CDs!

Thanks so much for this upload! I remember well listening to it in 1973, because GHS was about to be released & Alexis Korner said, "& there's one track that's JUST GOT TO be banned by the BBC." Of course he was referring to STar Star. His insight 75 & 76 programs are really good listens as well. I look forward to listening to this series again 37 years later!

I will download it as soon as I can, but I'm not sure if I will understand it all.

All the best for you English gentleman.

I urge anybody who is serious about the history of this band to download all six episodes. The amount of information is incredible. The interviews w/the band take place in the Spring of 1973, just after the Australasian Tour.

I listened to 1 & 2 last night. Just brilliant. Keith is high on heroin, Mick is wired, but everybody takes the information seriously. Keith first mentions
Brian's downfall at the end of part 2. Really, take the time to download these gems. You'll be sorry if ya don't!

I would love to see a re-post of this torrent.

I remember attending the University Of Iowa in Iowa City, IA and hearing this play on the local radio. I don't think it was a re-broadcasted on the King Biscuit Flower Hour but some program like that.

I would love to get a copy of it.

Thanks!

There seems to have been some problems with the links to episodes 2 and 3. Hopefully these are now fixed.
