OT: Terry Reid "Stay With Me Baby"

Not sure what's become of Terry ...who may have peaked opening for the Stones in '69- a fondness for the occasional drink may have been a prob but this guy could wail!

I saw Terry earlier this year at a Waddy show. Still sounded pretty good.

Absolutely no disrespect Sicilian, but when I watched that stuff I was thinking master class and Ace don't really belong in the same sentence. I guess you've got to be a Kiss fan to appreciate it...or something.

Perhaps Malcolm Young could move me with such relatively simple instructional stuff, he's got a bit of rock and roll soul that Ace seems to lack, imo.

This is more like masterclass guitar tutorial. smoking smiley

None taken, though Guitar World has a much higher opinion of his playing than you want to give him. You don't have to be a fan of the group to appreciate his style.

The video was meant to teach chords and nuances of that particular song, not a dichotomy of the talent of rock and blues musicians. I think both musically and verbally, he articulated that point perfectly.

Ace is a cool guy, although he makes Keith and Ronnie look like Yngwie Malmsteen and Steve Vai in the sloppiness department.

Yes good point, as one who didn't really know or have interest in that song it was obviously lost on me. It would certainly be cool to see Keith do something similar for some of his tunes!

Love this! Just came across it.. Starts off a bit rusty and stale and just gets better, and Ronnie's solo/riff is just lovely. Enjoy!

Indeed. Along with "Hand Of Fate" a rared played gem of BAB, I´ve never got a chance to see it live... I´ll keep trying though... (Europe 2016?)

It's nice that they did it but Mick phoned in that singing...

I agree, GasLight, but he definitely gets more into it during the last 2 minutes. I love that he nudged Ronnie before his solo. There are a lot of phone-ins post '81.. Monkey Man comes to mind.. but I still like to see club footage like this and rarities played onstage.

Maybe Mick didn't want to appear to be yelling, as that place only holds 475 people?! Just looked it up. That intimate, he could've whispered.
They were looking real good, thanks for link.

Great show. Have the DVD - it seems to capture the evening well. From Chicago - Double Door is a great, gritty venue in a awesome part of the city (Wicker Park). Perfect spot.

...

parts of it remind me on a session in the one plus one-film,
where keith sits on the ground and plays a Riff, charlie on bongos

I've never heard this before. I may be wrong, but it doesn't sound the Stones to me.
