The following is talks about the voting process...

I was thinking about doing an IORR poll, totally anonymous, about things like:

- Who is your favorite Stone?

Then may be one or two more questions. Any suggestions? It should be short but still interesting. Then I was thinking about who should be in the "favorite stone" list. Four names, i.e. only current active members, or should I include all previous members as well. I don't want to mess up the form too much, the choices will be like a drop-down so you can't put a vote on Elvis, Macca, Blondie... PS. There will be one choice : All of them or at least more than one favorite...

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Err, what does BJ stand for? Barryl Jones? surely not.

I'll vote but only this week certain posters were ridiculing the validity of polls as a concept.To be fair I think the main gripe about those polls were that the Stones didn't feature very prominently in them! Don't suppose they can go wrong with this one...although I still see in-fighting when results are published.

It just depends on the mood I'm in and which Stones member I'm giving a closer inspection at the moment.

That's pretty much my thinking. I mean fave song? The irony is that of the top 10 on that list is that it will probably near enough match a top 10 'overplayed Warhorse list'. Harmless fun however.

cool. i suggested polls 2 or 3 times here, but the reaction was kinda lame...
i'd love to have polls. it's just something funny. best album, best guitarsolo, best tour, worst cover, what is better...etc. there are so many possibilitys...who should be the next producer, etc...

stuff like number of shows attended ~ since what year has one been into the Stones ~
does one own bootlegs or pirated stuff or both ~ and so on. those aren't too imaginative, i know,
but i'm not too big on "favourites", rankings, etc ... "favourite poll topics" might work :E

(but to answer one of BV's questions: yeah, a question about favourite Stones should include all eight, i feel)

Keep the poll as a constant institution, so that the rankings can vary from time to time (like album charts).

song most IORR want to hear next tour (rarely played less than 5 times)

All these posts have good ideas. Lots of fun. Good for IORR archives ongoing polls users only can vote once type thing. MEZ

I've actually thought before that it might be convenient to have posters' views on common debates listed somewhere. It might actually reduce the number of times the same topics come up... or then again it might inspire them to come up more often! Things like, "Jones, Taylor, or Wood"... one's view on the topic could simply be logged somewhere for reference.

Don't forget Ian Stewart regarding members of the band. At least, he should be on the list.

"Song of The week" Every song in their catalogue. Mixed up pot pourri not sequentially. BV post song of the week. All discourse / dialogue regarding the song all goes same thread. Why you love the song, why you don't, why its overlooked, why its better done live. Why not work live. Fav live versions of the song, what song means to you. Why you don't like it. Why it should be played more. Why its a crime its never played. (Like Out Of Time!!!). Some songs will get much more attention. Brown sugar vs Baby Break it Down. Sort of like we always talk about various songs but in one location area discuss all their songs at length. Kind of like the song battles we used to have quite often.

Week 3 Love Is Strong etc etc
Week 4 Till The Next Goodbye
