According to this story the guests "eagerly took to the dance floor" when the Stones started. So yeah, that's standing up I'd say.

Madrid (dpa) - The Deutsche Bank, Germany's biggest banking institution, hired the Rolling Stones to play for 700 people at an exclusive party in Barcelona, a Spanish news report said Friday

Mick Jagger and the band took time during their Bigger Bang world tour to play for senior executives and their associates in the Catalan National Art Museum, El Periodico de Calaunya reported.

The exclusive gig Thursday saw the band play their big hits - from Start Me Up to (I Can't get No) Satisfaction - for an hour and a half on a stage draped in black, the report said.

The guests - most of them in formal attire - had eagerly taken to the dance floor as the band struck up following a sumptuous dinner on an evening that had cost around four million euros, the report said.

The Deutsche Bank had no comment, the report said. Investment banking circles are, however, no strangers to such lavish parties thrown for employees and customers.

Here's the story of one of those guys who gets into big events for free...
It wasn't the one I was remembering per se, but similar M.O. and quite entertaining. Might have to try these to access a Stones show...

lessee 4 million euros...that would equal...$ 5,513,173.04 USD per ticketed 'seat'....5 1/2 million tic price times 700 attendance???

5,513,173.04 times the 700 in attendance...hmmmm...lesseee ruffly...say

could it be as little as approx 39 million u$d gross?? i definetly screwed something up there with the math...yeh yeh, it must be the lower (close to) 40 million dollar gross...
I MUST have something wrong...
i know it costs money to rent a small theatre and feed people rubber chicken...or it's expensive equivalent...so hmmmm....

how could they work so cheap???
hopefully, the senior banking personeels were good tippers, but the ultra entitled so seldom are...there is all outgo for expensive mistresses, you know, they find out you're a billionaire and they want their own villa or they tell the wife and it's no nookie from either end...so to speak...
... and private armies, buying governments and such...not cheap...& Such a bother...

Absolutely agree, bv, there's not one of us who would have turned down an invitation to this gig.
I'm happy with Paris and looking forward to the 3 O2 gigs, last one 7th row, so how can I complain, eh ?

I don't think they meant 4 million per person. It was four million total.

I don't know if we'll ever know who got what. I thought I had heard that for the Vegas party they did on the Licks tour they were paid a million. I'm not sure their fee would multiply by five. Plus if Deutchebank was the sole sponsor on the Asian Tour last year, it could have been set up a long time ago. Fact is, we'll probably never know for sure.

I think the club show should be a warning to everyone on this board. Could this be the future of the Stones if they can no longer do the massive tours. Imagine playing to 700 people instead of 50,000 and getting the same money and playing for just over an hour.

Be warned

The Stones have done 130 shows on this tour and one private show. They have done three private shows during the past 10-15 years and hundreds of shows so I would not worry that much. It is just a way of organizing the tour. Anyone can hire them if they come up with 4 million Euro basically, and as long as it fits into their schedule. Organizers, tourist agencies, Volksvagen, Swizz supermarket chain, banks, anybody really.

I was there since 15.00h waiting for a guy who had the possibility to get me in. A good friend of mine get the chance half hour before and he finds himself working like a security at Keith's door! The spanish security boss told me: "Come to this door at 18.00h and will see...". Then he ignored me and later he said: "That's very complicated!". I was waiting at this back door and looking that my possibilities were going. There was only a few fans on the MNAC and I thought maybe finally they have a little compassion and let us go in to a place where we wouldn't disturb the bankers ???#¬€?&%!!!!. It never happens. Tired and dissapointed I walked to another back door where we could hear the gig. It didn't sounds very good but that's better than nothing. When they were playing Simpathyfor the Devil, one security attended our sugesstions to open one door and move a little bit a curtain and finally some of us could hear a bit better and see a little part of the stage. Well, I tried. At least I get back home with some pictures with Lisa, Tim, Chuck, Blondie and Charlie, a piece of paper indicating the dressing room and a guitar pic. ;-)
Now I'm counting the days for the next Rolling Stones show!

Frustation ! That's the only word I can think of when I think about last night.

I drop of by the museum by 19:30 just to find the "Welcome to Guantanamo Bay" poster and the Rattlesnacke sign ! Some nice guy around there told me that Charlie just walked in ! Things were looking good. After a while we could spot Tim Ries going in and out many times giving away passes to his friends. Catalan drummer on his Time Ries project and 3 friends were alowed in. I should try this one ! A group of gorgeous blondies also made it.

The biggest surprise is to see Bjornful walk by ! He travelled all the way from Montenegro just to hang around like us ! If someone deserved to be in the show that is Bjornful ! No luck for him.

As the time of the show was approaching all the @#$%& VIPS came in the front side of the museum. Most of them didn't care about the Stones. There was another chance to try to enter but sevurity was really tight.

At the end we standed outside the Museum begging for an open door so we could hear something ! There was only one decent person that night, he was a Museum worker who took our mobile phones to take some pictures of the show !

We could see the band leaving the building. It surprised me the way Darryl was treated. He was in the same van with Bernard, Lisa, Blondie ...

Mick and Charlie travelled in their own Mercedes. Keith in a VW van, looked tired to me. Ronnie said hello !

I couldn't get no Satisfaction !

Ok, this is disgusting for everybody Roger.. but you was expecting a different thing?? No one of the VIPS care about the Stones... probably!! And what??? A guy (or bank) contract the Stones for play for their clients!! This is easy of understand!!!

BV, and all the people waiting on the doors, and many of us who spend all our money in go to see them so many times how we can.... all WANT be inside... but this is not a problem of deserve or not.... this is not a show of the Stones, this is a show where a guy contract the Stones.... you are friend of him, you are in, you are a fan, you are out.... Is easy!!

they could cut off the Keith part for such a short gig and replace it with an accoustic or a duet MJ/KR
it was not a stripped thing as supposed

Belive me guys, I had a VIP pass to see the show yesterday, but I didn't use it.
Stayed at home drinking some beers and listening the Sticky Fingers album complete.
I had no shame to go to see the guys playing rock'n'roll in front the bankers.
Now I am happy. I will see them in the first show at O2.

If it is true you had a VIP pass and didn`t go, that`s just one more thing which makes me think that I´m living in a mad, mad world. However, I like Sticky as well...yawning smiley))
