Kieth is THE Mr cool and George, well he's the guy who told Dick Rowe to go and sign the Stones before they had a record deal. Dick Rowe is famed for turning the Beatles down, so both cool in different ways.
well keith loved him; as can be clearly seen in his interview appearing rs magazine's tribute edition after george's death.
also had felt a special kinship as keith also claimed connection with george because they both had similar jobs in their respective bands...taking care of driving things musicially while hanging back and watching the front men's ass...keith put it much more colorfully than that...it was very touching.
he also felt that the stabbing killed george and not the cancer, (from which he had been treated and keith claims, recovering,) before the stabbing. ...he didn't think george's system could handle it...it was really two very bad slashes/poundings...keith said something in re: to lennon and harrison along the lines of 'they sung about was love, love...so they shot one and stabbed another.' it seemed like he lost someone he cared about.
as for their stylings...imo,obviously george liked things worked out very specifically...thought a lot about his parts, then didn't deviate from them. keith more loose, hurt, explosive...trolling around for a riff or emphasis in the moment...
i didn't know that george had told the record executive to sing the boyz... that's so cool...those various guys in dem groups were often actually very close to each other...to hear keith talk to hunter s. thompson about john on that clip was also very interesting and moving.
I really can't see how you can compare them or even bother to. They are two different personalities musically and other wise. You might as well try to compare Jordi Savalle and Yo Yo Ma.

in a way, that'd be a little like judging the entire stones catalog on the basis of one song that aggravates ya...every comitted stones fan probably has their own stones 'clinker' somewhere amidst all those several dozens in that huge bag of songs.

If my memory serves me right, this song was not written by George Harrison? ;-)
Being a member of The Beatles is of course as big as it can be. But Harrison worked in the shadow of Lennon and McCartney. Keith's impact in rock history must be much bigger. As songwriter, as guitarplayer, as inventor, as icon, as..., as...
