A Bigger Bang Early Mixes
Posted by: Gazza ()
Date: January 26, 2007 12:04

For those who missed this or were unaware of it's existence - here's the first significant studio find of 2007 I think:

I found 18 "Bigger Bang" early mixes on soulseek at the weekend. We cant upload them on the Rocks Off tracker as they're mp3 sourced, but if you check GotToRollMe's post here on the Rocks Off bit Torrent thread [www.novogate.com] you should be able to download them via gigasize.com, as she's uploaded them for us.

Most of the songs on ABB are here -
Let me down slow and We dont wanna go home (3 versions each), It wont take long, Dangerous Beauty and Streets of love (2 versions each) with one version each of She Saw Me Coming, Biggest Mistake, ONNYA, This Place is Empty, Driving Too Fast, Under The Radar

The takes are the same as they are on the album, but the mixes are different and in some cases the versions are longer. The album version of 'Biggest Mistake' appears to have been edited in about 5 different places for release and 'Dangerous beauty' has longer solos etc.

Let us know what you think of them.

Lol..very much for real, Kent

as theyre the same 'takes' as the album versions, its maybe not as earth shattering as the Steel Wheels mixes we unearthed five months ago, but there are certainly some subtle differences which you can pick up especially after a few listens (I dont have as keen an ear for these things as many other 'audiophile' fans, but those who have and who have already heard them seem quite pleased with the difference)

Still... It's awesome. I thought we'd never get to hear anything different from the studio after we got the Voodoo Lounge boxes. Many thanks. A shame that it's only Mp3 though, but heck. I'd settle for midi files if it's stuff like this.

Regardless of source, you'll find that the sound quality is still excellent. Hopefully a lossless version will emerge. We contacted the guy I downloaded them from to enquire how he came across them but unfortunately he didnt know.

Yes. I'm hearing SOL right now. I can't really turn it up loud because I'm at my dad's and he's sleeping. It sounds very good though. The most notable so far is Jagger's ad lib to It Won't Take Long between the verses. It's great to hear this.

Again a very big thank you to Gazza, GotToRollMe and the kind soul that put these up on Soulseek.

True, but still great to hear. Especially Biggest Mistake. It's a shame they released it with a fade out, love the ending.

Thanks to everybody who made this tape available!!!!

It's hard to resist speculating on why certain tracks are absent: "Rain Fall Down," "Laugh, I Nearly Died" seem like prerecorded jagger-pieces, "Infamy" maybe the same for keith?, and "Look What the Cat Dragged In" they probably wrote at the final mixing session. Am I forgetting any?

Yeah - Rough Justice, Back of My Hand and Sweet Neocon

The recording features 18 mixes of 11 of the 18 released songs. Conveniently, its just short enough to fit onto one CD, so it would be nice to imagine there are more!
