Interesting use of Stones' music for the programme. I don't recall once hearing Jagger singing on any of the Stones' songs such as Gimme Shelter, Street Fighting Man, Midnight Rambler, The Last Time. Instead they would put the intros or key riffs on a loop before the vocals came in.

Now I'm wondering why would Julian Temple do that? Was he consciously trying to cut Mick out of Keith's story?

The programme was really enjoyable and really brought to life both Life and Gus And Me.

Mick was in the story, at school a couple of times, and on the train.
But yes, I reckon keeping Keith the center of the story was indeed deliberate.

Sorry for confusing everything and everyone in sight as usual :E

In fact what I got from Mr D's fine link was an avi file that I'm now converting
so I can burn it to a DvD. In case it helps anyone, I'm using this: [www.avitodvdfree.com]

Let's not over-analyse this programme folks. I enjoyed it simply as a War-baby going through the years. In a way the fact that it wasn't about The Stones made it more watchable.

I've just rewatched this mighty mighty fine film, and Mick's vocals appear several times,
most prominently singing Stray Cat Blues over the closing credits.

But it is indeed interesting how much purely instrumental music is used, often right on topic,
but probably not all particularly recognizable to viewers who aren't Stones fans.
Like Wild Horses when Keith is talking about the lovely mare a farmer put out to pasture on a bomb site,
or Factory Girl when discussing the hard-working Doris - like little gifts for fans. :E
The screaming girls from the Ed Sullivan show cut in with the air raids were like that as well -
what an eloquent and multilayered film! Thanks and praises

Just watched my recording, Excellent. A very quick 60 minutes. Some brief observations.

Not sure why Keith was one of the youngest in his year, in the UK its September births who are the oldest, August births the youngest.Keith's birth is December so one of the oldest?
Anyone notice at 22mins: 'Little Boy Blue Nursery Rhymes" book ?
Sadly, Keith's parents separated around 1963, no reference.
No music credits at the end....no reference to ABKCO .
Can't believe Director Temple was still working on the film up until a couple of weeks ago..

Now what would be really good would be a film documentary of Keith visiting Chicago and/or New Orleans area talking to the blues guys, visiting some clubs and doing some recording.

And of course some idea of what happened to the Depp documentary. Did they have a fall out?

Okay, LOL, I am head tripping 3 minutes into this docu,
it's like a Twilight Zone episode w/ LSD flashbacks to Keith Richards blowing smoke in my face.
Had lunch w/ my English mother-in-law we've lived in the same US town now for >10 yrs .
She grew up w/ Jagger/ same age 73 this year, her story embellished just today they were 'friends' I bite my tongue but I know she'd like to see this docu
she was living thru it right there at the same age/ time. I will purchase it rightly when this comes to US
Thank You RS fans for all the links posted to help us out in the meanwhile
See if I can get back to it now-

This might deserve a thread of its own, but BBC Radio will be re-airing

"to complement the BBC's My Generation season"

It seemed to end very abruptly as if a part two is on the way but there's no mention of that. Other than that I enjoyed it a lot and I'm not a great fan of Julian Temple usually. He did this very well and Keith was top notch.

*one gold nugget of wisdom (and I cannot quote it/ do it justice, nor go back into docu for clarity)

It's not part of a series, no.

The programme ended exactly where I thought it would, as all the publicity, including the Radio Times interview posted by Green Lady, made clear that the documentary covered the period from Richards' birth to the formation of the Stones.

Mr.D thanks for the download. Finally got it to open up and watch. As an AVI file I had to go to the app store and chose the Smart Converter app to convert. Then open it up. Maybe I didn't have to do this, but I could not figure how to play it otherwise. It ended up in iTunes and it worked.

I loved this show. Keith can weave a pretty damn good story. He clearly has a talent for this kind of thing. Who cares if he gets something wrong here or there. An expressive and entertaining guy no doubt. Wish it ran longer or there were additional episodes. Not ashamed to say, I just enjoy watching and listening to Keith talk.

Thanks again for presenting this to all of us! A real treat.
