You Can Make It If You Try
You can make it if you try You can make it if you try You can make it if you try, yeah, yeah You can make it if you try
Sometime you had to fall Don't you know sometime you want to cry Don't it make you feel so bad sometime you want to lay down and die? Yeah, yeah - you can make it if you try
If your baby treats you wrong Don't run around being blue Remember my friends, everybody can't win 'Cause you know sometimes, sometimes you've got to lose
You can make it if you try They always told me I could make it if I tried I'm going to make it if i try, yeah, yeah I'm going to make it if I try
If you try

Great song by Gene Allison and as well The Stones with a great raw singing Mick Jagger, the album: "England's Newest Hitmakers" , was an immediate succes in the UK and even knocked The Beatles at the top in May 64.
One of the best covers by the Stones, and as mentioned Mick's vocals are great - singing it like he really means it. With that said, nothing can beat the original which is as perfect as it gets.
I love it, as I do any of the tracks off the first 3 albums (US versions, Hitmakers, 12x5, Now). People mention Mick's singing, I love the 'yeah ... yeah' in the chorus!
I dont know the original but with the Stones doing a version as wonderful as this I dont care for the original. Ah, those were the days! Back then Mick knew how to handle a ballad, these days he doesn´t or has forgotten. Raise your glass to the early Stones, everything´s perfect.
Have never quite gotten that song. Possibly the only 'weak' track on the debut. Not that it's bad, but there are way more inspired tracks on the album.
