I love this compilation so much!
(and miss the Chuck Berry songs on Stones gigs)
Cover art also great!

Horrible one.
Bad sound quality too.
Only good thing is the true stereo "Everybody Needs"...

One of the worst covers to ever "grace" a Stones album.
Was it done by a five year old with a pair of scissors?

It's indeed clumsily made, but for some reason I've always liked the cover. Must be something with the colours...

The selection of songs is ace, though.

Keith's hairdo on the back cover is priceless! grinning smiley

i recall buying it, but not 100% why. Looking at the tracklist, it must have been because Everybody Needs Somebody was the UK version, which I didn't have at the time.

Loved the collection of songs.

Was brought out by Decca as a cash in for the 1972 Rock'n'Roll revival which saw all the big 50s guys play a gig at Wembley Stadium. I believe Mick attended.

19th Nervous Breakdown seems out of place on this compilation. Don't Lie To Me from Metamorphosis would have worked here. The outtake Reelin''N' Rockin' would have been a good choice as well.

They could have added the live Let It Rock from Leeds instead but they probably didn't have the rights to that. Roll Over Beethoven, Beautiful Delilah or Memphis Tennessee from the BBC would have worked as well but they probably did not have the rights to those either.

The Ya Yas-cuts were a bit of a surprise when I heard this album for the first time.

Doesn't this compilation have unique stereo versions of some tracks?

Everybody Needs Somebody To Love
Is that the same version that was released on the Street Fighting Man EP?

I never bought this collection. I agree with everything written above.

This looks like a bootleg.

Never bought this one. Fine tracklist, but you simply canĀ“t make a "Not-Fine"-Compilation of early-Stones-tracks. The artwork is a total disgrace, but who cares as long as the music is great.

I never bought this album, but I really like the 1975 German reissue cover a lot. At the time you didn't see these Sticky Fingers photo sessions outtakes that much :

It's interesting that Around And Around and You Can't Catch Me were not included.

I think this was first appearance of Bye Bye Johnny on a U.K. album. It was previously only on an early EP.

Ah yes! That was it. In another thread I mentioned that I got this one for "Down The Road A Piece", but I realized that I did have that one, on "Now!". I knew that there was something I was trying to complete with R&Rolling though. "Bye Bye Johnny" indeed.
I also did already have both "Everybody Needs Somebody" because one of my early buys was the Maxi Single of "Street Fighting Man" w/ 'Surprise Surprise' and 'Everybody', slow version. Still prefer that one.

I'm not sure, but I think I remember complaints, that not all songs ran at the correct speed?!?

..it's a pity that this version of "everybody needs somebody.." has not been on the US "Rolling Stones now" in place of the actual (bad track)..I read somewhere it was Chrissie Shrimpton's fault...!
