the title of the thread is funny-stones opening acts that were ACTUALLY good.
the list of bands who have opened for the stones in the last 50+ years is like a who's who of rock and roll.
what always amazed me is that they have absolutely no fear about who opens a show.they really are like a heavyweight champ who will give anyone a shot at the title and it's bitten them in the ass very few times when you consider the ballsy choices they've made.
i'd like to see mccartney, springsteen or U2 let metallica,ac/dc,van halen or guns and roses open a show, they'd be vaporized.
You cant be serious about van morrison in 2007. He played two maybe three songs and next had to leave because of the pooring rain...Quote

Lenny Kravitz in Cleveland 1994 was a bit of a jerk
Why?

The Stones have never feared the competition. Foreigner was becoming hugely popular when they opened for the Stones in 1978. So was Journey in 1981. The Stones clearly weren't worried!

1995 watching our home town heroes "The Exponents" on the massive Voodoo Lounge stage was a real treat, it set up the evening perfectly.

Yes Elmo, it was 02 I saw No Doubt with them. I can't recall if it was in ATL, but No Doubt was fantastic. And that was with a shitty PA system.
I've seen Living Color mentioned several times in thread. LC was the worst mess I have ever seen. I have always hated that band, but in 89 I was ready to see the Stones for the 1st time after WW3. They had gven LC the worst sound ever. Absolute mud. In addition it seemd that all the drummer played was kick, the guitarist had every effect on maximum through entire set, and the singer ran and shrieked.
