Make a country Stones compilation

If you were going to make a compilation CD of country Rolling Stones songs, what would Be on it? It can consist of originals, covers, studio or live and unreleased songs. Sequence it however you like too.

In 2013, I compiled a cd called COUNTRY STONES only for my personal fun. The running order is as follows:

01 High And Dry
02 No Expectations
03 Dear Doctor
04 Country Honk
05 You Got The Silver
06 Wild Horses
07 Dead Flowers
08 Sweet Virginia
09 Far Away Eyes

In the meantime "We Had It All" has appeared. That would have also been a very good song on this disc.

"No Expectations" is great, but is it country?

For me, good country songs from the Stones are:
* Sweet Virginia
* Torn and Frayed
* Dead Flowers
* High and Dry
* You Got The Silver

and I can't think of much more, really. "Dear Doctor", maybe, although I can't take it very serious.

Fair enough smiling smiley, then it should definitely be on the list.

Oddly, I prefer them as a country band to a blues band, although I wish Jagger took c/w more seriously.

Yes, but I am getting more confused by what country music really is. I would call Factory Girl "folk", but then again, country is folk of course.

I started a thread on this year's ago, I think I'd made a compilation called "It's Stones Country!" or something like that.

A great CD...they were one of the best country bands ever!

EDIT...found my thread...not as old as I thought! About how Loving Cup was the centrepiece of my Stones Country CD.

this was on my original itunes list...

We Had It All
Sweet Virginia
Let It Bleed
Loving Cup
No Spare Parts
You Win Again
Torn and Frayed
High and Dry
Plundered My Soul
Dead Flowers
Honky Tonk Women
Tumbling Dice
Faraway Eyes
You Got The Silver
Dear Doctor
Till the Next Time
Turd On The Run
Factory Girl
Ventilator Blues
Wild Horses....

and that's where the CD cuts off....

I also had the following on my playlist, but too many songs to make it on the single CD:

Through The Lonely Nights
Claudine
Casino Boogie
Country Honk
Shine A Light
Do You Think I Really Care
Let It Loose
Following The River

When I listen to Some Girls Deluxe CD 2, I can't help but think that the Stones were "this close" (by which I mean kinda close) to putting out a country Album when they came out with Some Girls.

Think about it:

01. Claudine
02. So Young
03. Do You Think I Really Care
04. No Spare Parts
05. Far Away Eyes

06. Tallahassee Lassie
07. You Win Again
08. Don't Be a Stranger
09. We Had it All
10. Let's Go Steady (New Barbarians Country Version)

Bonus Fiji Jim

Even the title track from Some Girls is a country n' Western song that's been amped up a lil bit. Just my opinion.

On the internet nobody knows
you're Mick Jagger

Nice thread, I remember reading it. But what about the olives and the Granville Island Pale Ale? Were they good? spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Blinded By Love is a very sophisticated song, but country at heart.
