Leicester City FC congratulations. You are the champions of the Premier League in England! And what a game ... Chelsea vs Tottenham 2 - 2...

The Guardian:
The referee blows the whistle. It’s the greatest fairytale in Premier League history. In football history!

Congratulations, Leicester City! What an achievement and wonderful moment for English football this is. As someone tired and bored of the monopolising nature of the Manchester United's and Chelsea's of our national game, to see a team, such as the foxes, defy the odds, is utterly magnificent. Here's hoping they'll have a stirring first season in the Champions League next year. Manchester City, who?

Even though I'm a Spurs fan and have been for the past 33 years, I must say congratulation. Well deserved.

Because it is.
Why is Arkansas pronounced Arkansaw when Kansas isn't pronounced Kansaw or vice-versa?

I'm afraid that explanation didn't make me any wiser. Thanks, anyway.

I sometimes wonder why the 'c' in Tucson (AZ) is silent...

A word or two surrounding Leicester's number 32:

Over the past two seasons, Mark Schwarzer has made just 6 League appearances for Chelsea and Leicester combined...

...But in doing so becomes the first goalkeeper in Premier League history to win consecutive League titles with different clubs.

Not bad for a 43 year old.

.....

Are the Schmeichels the first father and son to win the Premier league?

Our National Public Radio covered this story today. I don't follow the Premiere League at all but was thrilled to see this post!

The harvest of fortunate circumstances, as when a number of players suddenly work well together .... sell 2 of them and the team is dead again ... Congratulations Leicester, whose big push began with coach Sven-Goran Eriksson a few years back when they were newcombers to the premiership...

I'm not soccer fan by any means but I luv that the punters that put down the yearly "homer" bet on their favorite team scored huge for once. There's hope for us all!>grinning smiley<

Fantastic achievement. The little guys won and made a mockery of all the money men, including my team Manchester City. Good luck to them in the Champions League next season.

The pronunciation of Leicester, Gloucester etc. is barely weird compared to the likes of these surnames:

Cholmondeley (pronounced “Chumley”), Featherstonehaugh (“Fanshaw”), Marjoribanks (“Marchbanks”), Brougham (“Broom”), and Beauchamp (“Beecham”).

This all brings to mind the Monty Python sketch where a man called Raymond Luxury Yacht says his name is pronounced Throatwobbler Mangrove!
