Compared with Flashpoint it's really a fine live album.

Do you find it as weird as I do that those albums are only 7 years apart and couldn't sound any more different? NS blows F away!

Both Flashpoint and No Security are fine albums, NS is indeed slightly better, as it contains no songs from that awful Steel-Wheels-era and adds some rarities instead. But unfortunately they´ve chosen the wrong songs to represent B2B (except Flip The Switch).

Mick's voice is closer to his studio voice than usual, which is great. His live voice is often his "Vegas voice" (just using a term I've seen, even though Mick's dulled his voice live to preserve it long before the Stones every played Vegas).

It's time they release a REAL No Security cd/DVD set, with bonus track to cover all the rarities played.

The most scary thing about it is how well YGMR fitted as an opening number...

Agree, pulled up part of this on utube today, audio only,
YGMR
Gimme Shelter
whew that opening feels/ sounds
tough, pissed off, powerful
and the European football crowd now all I hear OLE OLE OLE Richards, Richards
Out Of Control, wow the guitars, am I right? Completely dig this tune live now.
The line up of songs here otherwise does not fit,
but to me No Security Tour the RS sound really, really f good.

Exactly.
Never understood why No Security has been dropped out of the remaster catalogue, regardless how good or bad the remasters have been.
But the crappy Flashpoint made it...

They really should release a fine set from '97-'99 tours, call it Total Security or whatever...

Without any dynamic, rather lame, guitars too low in the mix, who attended some shows of this tour, must be astonished at how they are sounding here. It has little to do with how the band sounded on stage really.

I've always wondered why this album is out of print, it's not a Ya-Yas, but it's light years better than the atrocious Got LIVE If You Want It! studio re-recording volume at a 7 with an audience loop volume at a 10. Never been able to get into that album, but I'll complain on that thread instead! smiling smiley

Why is No Security no longer available?

I lost my CD and am itching to hear Memory Motel with Dave Mathews... :-(

You can still find it at various online shops, usually second hand, but the most probable reason for it no longer being on catalogue is the very thing you want it for - the fact that there are guest artists on it, e.g. Dave Mathews, and the associated contractual problems.

Yeah, what he said...they'd surely sound better than that awful Mathews dude. Totally ruins it for me.

We used to call him the anti-Christ Dave. Changed after seeing him open for the Stones on ABB tour. Too boring for that distinction.smoking smiley

If you must buy again this album, get the Japan edition with the bonus track. It's better than the regular edition.

Agreed Kowalski. that's the only one I've ever had, although the bonus track was from the 89-90 tour if I remember correctly. The same version was available on cd singles from Flashpoint.

The 1990 version is also on Rarities. The Japanese Rarities says it's is from No Security which is incorrect.

The 1998 version is exclusively on the Japanese No Security.

I've never heard the japanese bonus track. I remember wanted to buy the CD but its was quite expensive when it was issued. Are you sure it's the 90 version ? the one which the false synth harp ?

For that matter, why is Aftermath (UK edition) not available (I can only find the US edition in the shops)? I also have a hard time finding the first two solo-albums of Keith (I have them on vinyl, but either I'd have to buy a new grammaphoneplayer or I need those albums on CD).

Some confusion here.
The version of "I Just Want To Make Love To You" on the Japanese "No Security" was recorded at the Amsterdam Arena on July 1, 1998.
The version on "Rarities" is the same one that was featured on one of the "Highwire" CD singles and was recorded at Wembley Stadium on July 6, 1990.
This is just one instance where the sleeve notes for "Rarities" were hopelessly wrong.

It's available here - both on cd and vinyl..
