Gotta be:

'It's just that demon life has got me in its sway'

Also like:

'Ah, I think I need a blood transfusion'

And:

'Rip this joint, gonna rip yours too,
Brand new steps and some weight to lose'

Booze and pills and powders - you gotta choose your medicine

Joe's got a cough - sounds kind of rough-- yeah - and the codine to kick it....doctor prescribes drug store supplies...who's gonna help him to kick it ?

I was so pleased to be informed of this that I ran twenty red-lights in his honor - thank you Jesus thank you Lord

too many to choose from so I will pick one from a solo album during World War III:

The wicked lay stones in my path.....

Buzz Buzz Buzz goes the honeybees...twiddeli twiddeli tee goes the birds..

I LOVE that line! However... I know it from an old Hollywood Flames tune (and a few covers). Did the Stones cover the song I'm thinking of? And I just forgot? Or Didn't realize they had covered it? Or did they "borrow" that line and put it in something else that I (obviously) can't place right now?

The original that I'm thinking of:

This time I was thinking of Jonathan Richman and The Modern Lovers, and the song written by: ROBERT BYRD, JOHN G. DOLPHIN Great version...don't know if Stones ever did it to be honest...smiling smiley

Did some searching to satisfy my curiosity and yes, it's the same song and, also yes, that is a cool version. I'm so used to the 50's Do-Wop style versions (Huey Lewis's version is the first I remember hearing) that the Modern Lovers version surprised me a bit but it grew on me as the song played. Thanks for getting me pointed in the right direction.

Peace,
Mr DJA

When there have been times when I'm a little fed up with the opposite sex (LOL), these lyrics come to mind:

"You don't try very hard to please me, for what you know it should be easy...."

"Who's that woman on your arm, all dressed up to do 'ya harm?"

"She's got you by the balls."

This:

Did you ever wake up to find
A day that broke up your mind
Destroyed your notion of circular time
It's just that demon life that's got you in its sway

Only later in life, did a moment happen to me like above.

And this:

Ain't flinging tears out on the dusty ground
For all my friends out on the burial ground

The song is a great guitar jam, but the feeling in the original recording of the song is just too powerful and too deep to reproduce on stage. As a result, the later live performances of the song were always thin and felt like a disappointment. It was mostly because of Mick's vocals and the need to "jump around." Some songs are such powerful recordings that they just can't be touched live.

There's fever in the funk house now

Never got a lift out of lear jets

Just another mad, mad day on the road

You father's still perfecting ways of making sealing wax

In the morning the tickets were like flags on my windscreen

I was gay in new york, just a fag in LA, wherever I go they treat me the same

Politicians garish wives with alcoholic @#$%& like knives

Jagger is an under rated lyricist...so many great lines...among them

Drink in your summer, gather your corn
The dreams of the night time will vanish by dawn

most famous:
Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste

I've noticed a lot of lines from this thread are from EOMS, and rightly so. Mick was really at his brilliant best on so many of those tracks....

When you're trapped and circled with no second chances,
Your code of living is your gun in hand.

You don't want to walk and talk about Jesus
You just want to see his face.

Some things, well, I can't refuse,
One of them, one of them the bedroom blues.

And, of course...

I need a shot of salvation once in a while.
