Love it. LOVE. IT.

Maybe it's not as good as I think it is, but I got it when I was just getting into the Stones as a teen, so it's difficult to be objective about it.

I will say that Slipping Away is horrible...off-key vocals, flat, out of tune horns...what were they thinking releasing that? The only black eye on an otherwise stellar album.

And of course the companion material and single B-sides are even better than the official release, especially the (electric) live versions of Gimme Shelter and All Down the Line.

What, I want to talk about a new box set release of this albumwinking smiley But in the mean time I played it the other day and fell in love with it all over again, Voodoo Lounge too. I had to back off this tour for a while because I played anything VL everyday up to the release of BTB. Only time I've done that with any band in my life. Guess you could say I was living in The Voodoo Lounge.

Was in the Olympia, Paris Monday July 3, 1995.
Where "Shine A Light" was recorded for this album.
With earphones listening to this song in december that year, I was surprised to hear my voice in the background along the opening lines of Mick.
Still do it today from time to time.:-))))))

The multi-media-section never worked on my equipment.

Otherwise, it's a nice album, though I miss 'Honest I do' and 'No expectiations' (only available in Japan resp. on a bootleg album).

Honest I Do was also in a movie soundtrack. Can't recall the name of the movie, though.

Let's Spend The Night Together, Memory Motel, Beast Of Burden and others were included on the bootleg Stripped Companion as well.

I remember getting a CD-ROM drive the same Christmas that I got Stripped (dear god, I'm old)...I spent most of the day installing it in my old IBM computer and being very proud of myself once I finally got it to play.

Honest I Do was on the soundtrack of Hope Floats. It was also on Stripped Companion.

I think it's a great live album. The version of Street Fighting Man is fantastic.

Multimedia section works fine on old PC under Windows 95 (but not later versions). I believe, it works on certain Apple too. And for sure it could be ripped as a set of short clips and slide-show. Although, you'll have a lot of troubles watching those .pic files on a modern PC.

The album itself is great. And related singles - Like A Rolling Stone and wild Horses - too. Gimme Shelter as a B-side is priceless.

Along with No Security and Live Licks, Stripped is one of a great trio of Stones live albums which collectively serve to chronicle the band's greatest decade as a live act (1994-2003).

Highlights include a rendition of 'Dead Flowers' which far surpasses the studio recording and the best version of Johnson's 'Love in Vain' I know of.

Their best live album after Ya-Ta's. The stray tracks that followed from the same concerts made it even better. The Wood-era Stones never played better than on this tour/record.

I LOVED it when it came out, and still have a very soft spot for it. Definitely their most unique live album, IMO. I hope that special edition of this is more than just a rumor.

made my points clear in the hundreds of similar threads on this, but will copy for this one:

not a classic! ... a cop out release to piggy back on all the other artists that actually did a live unplugged is a small venue/quiet setting. imo, the Stones (probably Mick) did not have the guts for an actual hour long unplugged -- but it could have been fantastic!!

I couldn't wait for this release. I was expecting an acoustic album with some classics, hoping for a few rarities. I was not expecting regular live versions of songs. I was actually pretty angry when it came out. There are definitely some nice moments, Let It Bleed, for one. And when you add some of the other tracks (like Honest I Do, and the likes of Beast of Burden & others from Companion), that makes up for it a bit. But overall they copped out.

I love the version of Wild Horses on Stripped. Even better than the original, to me. Not that the original isn't incredible too, it's just that I love Keith's guitar playing on this version even more than on SF

Re: LIVE ALBUM TALK: Stripped

Agree about the guitar playing (the acoustic) on WH.

I do agree with Leonid here. It's everything else than what it was supposed to be: an unplugged live album.
