One of my favourite Stones tracks!

It has a great, freaky atmosphere to it, and I just love that piano.

It was for 13 weeks in the TOP40 in my country 11 weeks in the TOP10 most of the weeks on 1 and 2....
And it was a popular song requested by people who were in yale grinning smiley as we had a special radio program back then in the 60's

Yeah DP, I love that piano too...and the swirling, building tension at the end.

I love so much the pre-1968 period.

Amazing track, and Nicky deserve a songwriter credit for it! The story said that he was playing the riff, and mick came in and say "can you play it in D, G...?". Great mellotron sound by Brian, gorgeous guitar by Keith.... The original 45 b/w dandelion is one of the most coherent ever. Two great tracks, very well recorded, produced and also backing vocals by John and Paul!

From timeisonourside.com:

«We Love You - well it's funny. It's last month's message for this month! I had a piece off one of the Goons LP I wanted them to use for the sound of the prison gates at the beginning... We Love You was really a case of creating the music in the studio. Although Mick and Keith had the basic idea for some time».

A magical, mind-altering morsel of Beatle-esque psychedelia, “We Love You” is thoroughly enchanting, thanks to Nicky’s piano (or is that Brian?), Mick’s delivery of those loopy lyrics, Brian’s mellotron “brass”, those beautiful harmonies (featuring the Glimmer Twins plus John and Paul!), Charlie’s rock-solid drumming, and even those trippy jail-house sound effects. This is 1960’s ecstatic grooviness in full flower, brothers and sisters. Just like its cousins (TSMR, Sgt Pepper’s, Piper at the Gates of Dawn, etc.), “We Love You” opens the mind and takes the listener on a magic carpet ride to another dimension. Far freakin’ out!

Nicky Hopkins on piano. Brian on mellotron.

It's not rock'n'roll to play mellotron...if it isn't Brian Jones of course...

Okay, couldn't remember this one, these too simple lyrics, but saw Nicky Hopkins mentioned, who I love, so looked it up this a.m.

[youtu.be]

Not my thing at this point, and besides the intro, not enough Nicky H as I hoped.
Marianne Faithful in the video was cool.

I always found so rough they hide Nicky. He is the engine of the song, and in this video Keith is shown on the piano. Same sh*t in the Angie video, with Taylor faking the greatest piano solo ever. In Rock and Roll circus is was also hidden, only to be seen when Jagger is near his Steinway grand. I can't believe people still talk of him as a session musician, he was deep in the core of the Stones during 1967-1969. Ok, not official member, but c'mon, he's not the guy playing tabla on Gomper.

I believe they should play this at their next concert in tribute to the legendary "Talk Track" feature on IORR. It would be a great gesture to their fans!

Top 10 Stones track for me...full of the chaos that made Have You Seen Your Mother and Cloud so great.
John and Paul's backing vocals are fab and Brian delivers that great stuttering mellotron. Nicky , Bill and Charlie great too.
Anyone know which mellotron setting Brian's using on this...is it mixed brass ?

Love this tune! Brian and, as Keith once noted, "all that Arabic riff."

I've always heard the lines as:

"We don't care if you hound we
and lock the doors around we."

To thank the fans and certain bands "We Love You" was recorded, a trippy, psychedelic song opened with heavy footsteps and clanging cell doors, the mellotron played by Brian Jones launches in and as the song progresses the sounds become more weird, BJ obviously enjoying the off-beat, Arabic brass arrengements.
One of their greatest songs IMO.

Those are the correct lines, a reference to being locked in jail.

As much as it would be nice if they were to play it live it would probably be a disaster! Yet they can do Monkey Man quite well... they're weird sometimes.

*I have no time, but wanted to respond, usually I look more into something, anyway, quick thought:
Do you think it was because how Nicky looked/ his Crohn's?
It is painful for me to see in some pics, but back then it maybe looked cocaine chic. I love Nicky Hopkins too, and dare say, it makes Exile for me.

Amazing song with intense layers of instrumentation and vocals.
When "We don't care if you hound we.." comes in half way through, Mick's vocals are at their best, and Charlie's drumming kicks it up a notch to a heavy/punky euphoria of mayhem.
Similar to the psychedelic vibe of She's a Rainbow, Dandelion, and 2,000 Light Years From Home, We Love You is a time capsule that captures the essence of that particular era nicely.

It's distinctive at very least, particularly that Lennon and McCartney provide some back up vocals. I like that Nicky Hopkins is playing on it. But it's repetitive and doesn't develop much into something significant. Maybe they wanted to be to the point considering Mick & Keith's drug bust/arrest.

Overall it still stands out like their other 1967 singles do, but for example no where near as good as Let's Spend The Night Together/Ruby Tuesday single ...
