Had a nostalgic act, I've seen a few homespun sort of 1930s acts and there was a lot of that in his songs, my favorite, one would be... My Old Timey Baby.

Being a Brit, when seeing 'Charlatans', I believed it to be reference to a former member of the U.K. Charlatans; the group whom have opened for the Stones on several occasions.

Always an enjoyable show-- Dan, his fine band and the "Lick-ettes" consistently brought good time music from the 30's, 40's and 50's. Well played, honest music that always brought a smile to your face.

I worked at a radio station on Cape Cod about 10 years ago and we brought Dan & band to perform at our annual Music & Wine blowout and he was just the nicest guy.

If you ever get the chance, checkout his "Last Train to Hicksville" album and you'll see what he was all about

I saw Dan Hicks and incarnations of his back-ups, the Hot Licks and others, live a few times over the decades and loved all the shows.

First album of DH and the HLs is tops, imo.

Dan was a true People's rock star, in that you could actually see him in a local bar. He used to play the Bluebird in Bloomington, Indiana when I went to college there.

My darling darling husband left this earth early this morning.
He was true blue, one of a kind, and did it all his own way always.
To all who loved him, know that he will live forever in the words, songs, and art that he spent his life creating. He worked so hard on each and every detail -- they are all pure Dan.

So, Duke, Benny, Django and Stephane -- he's on his way -- you'll be laughing soon!
