Fabulous performances. Stones firing on all cylinders. Far tighter than the Marquee. The band were to raise the tempo and heat up a notch or two the following year in USA but this teaser certainly merits a full release.

It's also a show that no one knew for sure was lying in the Stones archives so gives us all hope of some more treats to come.

I was at the roundhouse concert in 71, stood outside listning at the security door then they let me in for the last couple of numbers, Jagger threw a bucketful of roses and I caught one. Still have it pressed in a book somewhere.

Maybe the greatest live material ever released officially. It HAS to be released complete and in all its glory. This marverlous performances make GYYO fade into meaninglessness.

The concert deserves a complete release. A fascinating version of MR with a fabulous jam at the beginning, another masterpiece from the vaults with an ingenious MT.

Yes, brilliant stuff!
I don't think it's better than Ya-Ya's, but it sure is on the same level. Love And Vain and Honky Tonk Women are absolutely top notch.

Stray Cat Blues also deserves a mention, imo. And probably the best Live With Me ever as well smiling smiley

I have gotten sick and tired of listening to the same 20 songs played live by the Rolling Stones and continually re-released 90 times over the last 50 years. I do not really listen to live Stones anymore, and do not buy or download their live recordings, even if they are free. It's gotten to be a big bore.

Yeah, songs like Stray Cat Blues, Live With Me and Love In Vain are always in their setlists. And Sticky Fingers Live has been done numerous times, right? winking smiley

Yeah a double CD with each complete Roundhouse show per disc plus 1971 tour photos in the booklet would be ahem... (drool).

AT least we know both shows were beautifully taped by Glyn Johns and we also know the tapes have not been lost or damaged over the years. Remember months ago we could only speculate the band had taped one more gig on top of Leeds and Marquee.

Now imagine the Mobile Truck made the trip to Paris in 1970 to tape all three Palais des Sports concerts...

Best live version ever of Live With Me. No doubt. Better than on GYYYO. Bobby Keys!

Midnight Rambler is also stunning. As good as the one on GYYYO.

Hello. I apologise if this question is that of a fool, but where can one find this? Is it only on the Spanish-sleeve reissue of the album?
Thanks,
Declan

I was confused at first too, Declan, and I still don't get the "Christmas Bonus" part of the title.
Maybe Dandelion P meant the thread itself is a "Christmas Bonus"?

Thanks Deltics, Rockman and with sssoul. I've realised through looking at Deltics' link that I actually already own Live at the Roundhouse! An old friend bought me the DELUXE EDITION BOXSET for Christmas and I haven't yet explored it properly. Having seen the opinions on this page, I shall now properly look forward to doing so.

Thanks again,

Declan

I know, Rockman, unforgivable! But my explanation is that, since Christmas, it's been all about the Beatles 1+ for me - can't stop watching it. Those Stones will get their moment presently...

Ha ha! Yes, the Beatles did well out of me this Christmas. I bought the 1+ boxset three times, two for presents and also one as a present to myself. It is indeed brilliant.

To get back on topic, the Roundhouse songs represent absolute top notch performances of all the songs and Stray Cat Blues in paricular is to my ears the best version yet released. Until this release I thought that Leeds was the best but this is even better.

These tracks are possibly the greatest live Stones ever released.

I wish they'd release the whole set!
