I've sorted the ticket thing now I downloaded them into Adobe Acrobat reader and then all the information on the tickets was there to see.

I am arriving on Feb 10th and having a few days on the beach as well as seeing some sights of Brazil before the gig.

San Francisco and Chicago are representing at the Rio show. We would love to meet up with any iorr ers before, during and after the show. We arrive in Rio late morning on the 18th staying at Porto Bay Rio (Copacabana). We will fly out late evening on the 21st.

I've never thought there would be people coming from overseas just to see the Stones in Brazil. Going to all concerts? Lucky bastards. I've looked for the 27th tickets in São Paulo to buy and they're now sold out. :/

Just watched some of these clips of Copacabana gig and to think I will be on this beach in less than 3 weeks.

I will have my first full day in Rio on February 11th. We are all gonna have a great time in South America.

Yes ! I am staying most of the time in Rio in Flamengo area near the beach.

First two nights from February 10th ,I am staying in Gloria/Lapa area as still end of Carnival time and everywhere it is very expensive and big hotels that are available.

Got good deals for my 7 nights in Sao Paulo and 4 nights in Porto Alegre as well.

Very central places and transport links as well.

now this sounds like a really cool trip. let's meet and tell us about it !

Not every place accepts dollars in Brazil. In some hotels and restaurants there's no problem, but you can't spend in dollars everywhere here.

@Nate - I've been to Brazil dozens of times, and never thought about using USD. The banking system in Brazil just isn't very consumer-friendly. Moreover you'll get majorly screwed on the exchange rate if you try to pay your hotel or restaurant bill in USD. There are so many credit and debit cards with no foreign fees and a wholesale exchange rate (at least in the USA) that you could theoretically do the whole trip without touching the local currency.

Ok thanks for the information about the usage of dollars down in Brazil.
I have a pre loaded currency card I use when I'm traveling around Europe and it gives me great rates but I can't load Brazilian currency onto it so I was looking around for one that lets me load Brazilian currency onto it but can't seem to find one.I have debit cards and one credit card so I use these and take some cash as well.

I have just got to Rio yesterday and after first two nights in Gloria /centro area will be in Flamengo beach area from tomorrow.
Very hot and sweaty here at the moment and bits of rain. Not much cooler at night.
