Etta, Sugar, Boogie or Tabasco?
Posted by: Toru A ()

Just out of curiosity, what's french bull's name?

I know you love dogs. Do you take your dogs on vacation?
Keith : Yeah, right now we've got two French bulldogs. My man Rasputin died just about a month ago
– I picked him up in Russia and brought him back to become the czar of Connecticut – he went his natural way.

Did you grow up with a dog?
Keith : My mother hated animals. I always wanted one. We had a cat once that my mom put to sleep, so I pinned a note on her door: "Murderer."
I had a pet mouse once. I've always wanted animals; there's something of a connection with them. I've always felt that it's very innocent and beautiful
– there's a beautiful trust exhibited, with no other side to it.

When I saw that dog lying there calm as an egg in Under the Influence I was trying to remember the names
that I read a few years ago when they got the dogs. Etta sounds right. Sugar and Honey would work too,
given Keith's crosseyed heart :E

Sugar and Etta it is: [www.peoplepets.com]
That little article seems to be saying they have four of them? Or anyway four black & white dogs.

Toru A, I know Keith owned dogs called Boogie and Tabasco in the 70s. Boogie was a golden-retriever type.
I don't remember what Tabasco looked like.

And Ratbag of course was this sweetheart:

Etta & Sugar - still reflective of the Chess artists, methinks.

Didn't Keith and Anita once have some big wolfhound type dogs? I remember seeing them in a video of Anita on the beach. It's sweet that Keith loves his dogs so much.

Etta for sure! I'm trying to think of a Chess artist called Sugar -

It's from Cannes, so I don't think the dogs belonged to Keith or Anita.

But yeah Keith sure does love his pets

Thanks!

Boogie with Keith.

"After Boogie I had a dog called Creole, then one called Syphilis in the ‘70s – Syph for short. He was a deerhound. Some farmer shot him. They do that.”

I always thought Boogie was the big dog in that shot on the steps of Nellcote,
so I'm a bit puzzled to learn that little tyke in his hand in that shot from 1970 or so is called Boogie.
It's a King Charles spaniel, right? I wonder if that's the dog he got kicked off a plane over.

I don't know what this pony was called, or whether s/he actually belonged to Keith,
but the shot's from Nellcote so maybe?

I've had pets in my day, ranging from cockatiels through to terrapins, but certain dogs are the business. The last pet I loved was the wire-haired fox terrorist, terrier, Douggie. He was mega-intelligent, a great guard dog, and had a mind of his own. He passed away three years' ago.

My brother has a cockapoo, and this thing is as daft as a brush, and would not make a guard dog, but then it is child friendly. An ex-girlfriend had a cat called Wah-Wah, after the George Harrison song, and not the effects pedal. She loved All Things Must Pass as an album.

Yeah tom, we had a parade of pets in my home too...mostly mutts from the local dump my Dad would bring home and an assortment of dachshunds, even had an alaskan malamute for a time. They all had silly names...stumpy, dum dum, and poindexter to name a few.

Mick posted a video on facebook last year of him at the piano practicing scales as his dog howled along. Ronnie and Sally have a beagle...Charlie, of course, has his horses, but I seem to remember reading something a while back about he and Shirley raising show dogs. So I think they all have canine companions.

Good one. I like this name.

Our neighbor's cat is wailing night and day because he is suffering from dementia. His voice is like a Cry Baby.
