The Fonda gig was as great as any "great archival show", so I wish they would release it as soon as possible, tomorrow would be fine. We have enough "coked-drunken-powdered" shows so far, let us have a sober one with excellent playing and singing!

If there is one thing I'm certain of, it is that Fonda will be released in all possible ways smiling smiley

Although I avoid most post-Wyman material (excepting No Security), I did listen to the Fonda version of I Got the Blues on YouTube. Mick F I N A L L Y got a live version right. It's funny to listen to all three versions at the Marquee and Mick can't handle any of them. It's like when people get overwhelmed by the Star Spangled Banner at U.S. sporting events. I know they rarely played this number in concert back in the day.

There will be on in a few days or weeks. They don't want to interrupt Keith's solo album campaign.

Personally I am not interested in the post-Wyman live stuff, so I will be quite happy with Tokyo 1990 and Leeds 1982.

Post-Wyman-Tours have more interesting setlists than 1981/82, 1978 & 1989/90. And there´s a new kid on the block, he really can play the bass! (Even Mick says "Sometimes I wish I could play the bass like Darrylsmiling smiley"

...And: Keith and Darryl often stand close together, smiling at each other while playing. Never happened with Bill.

A 1994/95-release would be very welcome. Good setlists and strong performances.

Keith and Darryl can make out on stage for all the memorable bass work it's provided the Stones since 1994. It seems familiarity breeds mediocrity.
It's amazing...as incredibly talented as Darryl is, he's absolutely been a non-factor in their sound since joining the band. I've ONLY seen the Stones live with him (first show as 1997) and, solid though he is, I've never heard him play anything that just pops out in your face the way Bill did so effortlessly.

I guess Bill's amp was just set louder than Darryl's.smiling smiley

Bill wasn't exactly known for playing stuff that popped in your face either. However, something happened when Ronnie joined the band and the guitar department loosened up. All of a sudden (1978-1982 in particular), Bill's awesome playing came through more evidently, imo.

But Bill's bass lines always seemed to cut through the guitar frequencies no matter how heavy and distorted they were.

His lines had such an amazing bounce to them, whereas Darryl just plays that sort of generic low end rumble that gets buried in most rock'n'roll bands.

I dont remember who it was, but someone once said a bass player is good when you can feel him, but dont hear him... so Bill must have been an awful bass player. The Stones must have been very lucky the day he left. smoking smiley

I was thinking Chicago- for obvious reasons. Is there a map of what song goes to which show? Trivial in nature, however, we must know!

...Excellent point, indeed;
and imo, it goes beyond their live performances as well - f.i.: in the studio. I had never heard a Stones album with such distinctive bass playing like on "Some Girls"...
