What's the general concensus with regard to the sound quality of the TOKYO 1990 CD's. Personally, I found them lacking in highs.

Comments welcome.

Regards

SFTD

As a follow-up, I elected to switch out the RCA cables for a fibre optic cable between the cd player & receiver and played back the Tokyo 1990 CD's. Much better now with improved highs.

I think people spend too much time criticising the sound. It's the best we're ever going to get and better than any bootleg has or will be. Enjoy the hell out of these releases as I never thought they'd see the light of day.

Just out of curiosity I watched some of the Stones 1990 Tokyo concert on youtube. This was 25 years ago after all and maybe, I thought, they were not as bad as I remembered them then. But after watching some of this show, I must say they were worse than I had remembered.

Just for the heck of it I then watched some 72 footage from MSG. No comparison. The Stones were a truly great band in 1972. 18 years later they were a joke, a parody of themselves.

Some comments on this thread are really a joke, a parody of themselves.

Probably the negative comments are from frustrated U2 fans.

Almost 2 weeks since eagle rock wrote to say replacement discs would be shipped and still nothing. Have very many people received the discs yet and if so are you from the US or elsewhere? Don't know how long to keep looking or just give up

Mine had a posting date of 16 November with a London postmark (I live in England) and they arrived 19 November. I messaged them about the problem on 11 November.

Like most of the live released on DVD the filming or editing is not great. You rarely see Bill Wyman, if Keith (or Ronnie) is playing a solo you almost never see that full part up front. And I want to see every guitarintro
by Keith. So it is not really exciting to watch them. A CD release will be sufficient.

For those who care, here are matrices for EU CDs with corrected channels.
CD1: manufactured by optimal media GmbH AF12086-01
CD2: manufactured by optimal media GmbH AF12088-01
Mastering SID code ifpi L573 for both.
Mould SID codes IFPI9753 for both (correspond to optimal media production GmbH, Germany)

Funny enough, my CDs seem correct, (must have bought it late enough that I avoided the bad batch?), but my BluRay audio drops out near the end of 'Rock and a Hard Place'. Once it happens, if I try to play any other songs (even the previous ones that had played fine) they are also silent. If I restart the BluRay player, everything is back....EXCEPT if I try to play through that same spot in 'Rock and a Hard Place'.....WTF??? Ultimately, not a terribly big deal, as this is by far my least favorite Vault release (and frankly inferior to Atlantic City) but still frustrating and weird.

Message them via Facebook.
Or send them an email.
mail@eagle-rock.com
Or: [www.eagle-rock.com]
All they require is a photo or scan of your receipt and your postal address.

Do I need to send CDs back? Thanks for the help

I fear they might not be able to help you without proof of purchase.
They don't require you to send back the faulty discs.

I listen to Tokyo 1990 a lot. What a great band, what a great guitar Player Keith Richards and what the hell of a piano by Chuck Leavell!!

Chuck Leavell is a splendid pianist with beautiful hair and beard and he holds the band together, the Stones would not find any better. Hopefully he is on the new album.

I thought Tokyo 1990 was really good! Incredible guitar playing by Keith, I especially noticed. Like the Bitch and Sad Sad Sad guitar solos. It was great to hear the live version of Mixed Emotions, too.

Did anyone else have any trouble getting the downloaded CDs onto their Google Play account? I had to fight with my computer on Saturday night and for a good chunk of Sunday morning to get the CDs to download onto my phone property. I do have a somewhat complicated process, though, where I have to download CDs onto my computer's iTunes, and then drop the iTunes album into my Google Play downloads.

Hi - for those questioning how long it takes to receive the corrected cds: I live in the US and it took about 11 days to receive the replacement discs from Eagle Rock in the UK. They sent them very quickly after I sent a copy of the receipt via Facebook.

My vinyl copy has the same problem, reversed channels. I´ve sent 4 messages (two by mail and two by facebook), no answer.
Any ideas? What more can be done?

The vinyl quality is great BTW, but reverse channels is a bad thing.

Yeah....when I do that i feel just being on stage with the band looking at the audience....(I could even imagine my rear wall is the audience). so let´s drink for the reversed channels, the salt of the earth.
