Have you listened to Prince's new albums? After some months of listening, I can safely say that Art Official Age is a great album, to say the least...

What a dull album.
His last couple of albums are really poor. Completely dispensable.
He's even using sounds he used in the 80s. To me that's not a reminder how great he is, but how boring he has become.

Saying this... I enjoy the album he did with 3rdeyegirl. At least you can hear him having fun.

Gotta agree. But I wish I'd seen him live at Koko the other night. Apparently he played a hit heavy set.

His bass player is my old bass teatcher. Crazy to see her play with him. Puts a lot of things in perspective.

His best album since 1995.

Love both of his new albums. 3rd Eye Girl is a fantastic addition to Prince's sound.

Quite like Art Official Age, though I have to say I don't feel like it's an album that lodges permanently in your memory like the classics. Better than the last several albums though.

It's better than most rap and worse than most rock and roll. Pretty typical showing from Prince...it tends to be a bit showing and dance hall oriented for my tastes. But he does have some pretty cool sounds on there and it holds up when turned up. peace

I got all of Prince albums, but I can't say that any of them is better than the other so I guess 'Art Official Age' is an great Prince-album for Prince-lovers like me...

I like some of the early rappers and hip hop artists but the hardcore Gangster rappers these days don't float my boat, unless they have some killer samples from tunes I really like. peace

Funny you mention Art Official Age. I was really, REALLY, looking forward to both AOA and Plectrum Electrum last year, but haven't listened to either record in months now.

Apparently that's how good they proved to be. Not one song that earned a place in my playlists / on my record player. The little guy is a genius, but could really use a producer. He's staying active though, that's cool.

I guess the real attraction of Prince nowadays are his fenomenal live performances.
