it's MOCAMBO! dammit...here we go again, munich!
fixed, sorry, i knew that, loved that place
Why do you say loved past tense? Mocambo is not dead.
That's like saying, "I loved my kids" while dropping them off at school.

Muscle Shoals was the first place I thought of. I'm pretty sure it's already on your list!

Worst Rolling Stones song. At least in the top five along with Sweet Neocon, Hold Back, Back to Zero, Doom and Gloom and Keys to Your Love.

They played ad hoc/for fun at Ernestine & Hazel's off of Beale St. a few years ago. A friend of mine saw them - also that's supposedly the same bar where the "gin soaked bar room queen in Memphis" came from but who knows. I'll be happy to do more fact finding, if you'd like to include any of their Memphis visits.
Cheers.
Cool! No idea if it's true about the song - local legends say YES. But the way Mick & Keith write - who knows where they get their inspirations? But it's a good story so I'm sticking with it.Quote

absolutely - is that true about HTW? i heard that a long time ago wasn't sure how much credence it had - i've always wondered if they ever checked out SUN - and i was gonna include Memphis Memorial - where they played in '75

hbwriter - I'm on here very seldom, so just saw this post. Cool project. I'll put on my thinking hat. Be interesting to see whether that motel in Alabama they stayed in and listened to the acetate of Brown Sugar w/Stan Booth, is still standing. Are you doing only ALL Stones or also some Stones or also individual Stones? so like where Mick used to stay in Montauk, etc? Keith's old apartment with the fussy people downstairs that led him to write Neighbors? Like that...
Can't wait!

How about the seedy neighborhoods where Keith claims he scored smack and barely made it out with his life ?

With the bullet holes still in the ceiling.......Central and South Central Los Angeles, possibly easy drive for hb but a difficult drive back. Just don't wear the wrong color shirt.
I have identified the place in Joshua Tree part where Keith watched the sunrise. Probably the very cactii that was killed by the combined urine streams of Keith and Graham. lol
Are GPS coordinates going to be included? peace

Still there I'll bet. As you surely know things don't change too quickly in the desert (except for the amount of beers left in the cooler.) I owe you and will try to get the GPS to you next time I am in that area if you haven't found it in time.
Hilarious that you have also been on that quest, I can just imagine meeting someone out there armed with similar photographs "hb I presume?" peace
