I always figured that if one was to dive, repeatedly, into the "pool" then the "patio" would, of course, be slippery.

I do wonder though, how deep is this particular pool?

I always thought the curse of Dylan being such a brilliant writer is that there are all these asinine books by academic scholars (who know nothing about music) analyzing his lyrics. Half the time he didn't mean anything, but was just looking for a word to rhyme or he was taking the piss (which doesn't make him any less brilliant)...Anyway I think it would be hilarious if one of these geniuses would devote a tome to Keith's lyrics. He or she could speculate about the deeper meaning of pools and patios until the proverbial cows come home.

It is definitely a nod to Lenny. Keith told me himself. He's a huge fan.

Yeah I knew withssoul had it right in the beginning of this thread.

And although sometimes lyrics are trivial , it also is nice to know some insight into their making as I learned here in this thread about one of my favorite Stones tunes. Not everyone can barf out lyrics quickly and perfectly like Dylan or Jagger did in their heydays. Sometimes an awful lot of painstaking thought goes into them and figuring them out is a cool process.

I've had alot of fun just trying to write out and decipher Stones lyrics. peace

Interesting...but, I think we you may all be taking this a little too literally. Keith doesnt have a history of writing ambiguous lyrics, he is usually pretty straight to the point. For me the line simply references the Lenny bruce quote and no more. Let's face it he pulls no punches when talking about 'tits and ass' so why would he suddenly go all double entendre for that line.
