Tattoo You its a better album in my opinion. Its the most matured sounding Stones music ever, I thought at the time this was to be a path in which the Stones would go on. But then i learned it was all from the can.... i think is a masterpeace... Too bad Chris Kimsey is not around for all these bonus track rereleases.

Well, I don't think they are very close, SG is very near and dear to me. But Start Me Up was one of the best of their second life - I'll give you that, and for some reason, I was never big on Miss You.

Some Girls is, overall, a better record, but Start Me Up is a better track than anything on Some Girls.

Some Girls is my favorite but they are even in answer to the topic.

Some Girls by leaps and bounds. Far more dangerous a record. More attitude, and less polished production. The band made a cohesive statement with all NEW material. Ron's finest moment with The Stones.
Tattoo You is ok. Too slick for me, and too many throwaway songs. And it collapses from the weight of the 80's production. Start Me Up...never thought it was a great song. Ok, but not the hard edged Stones I loved on Some Girls. Some Girls is more apocalyptic with punk New York and Curtis Mayfield funk overtones. And guitars. Glorious guitars up front in the mix. Their last masterpiece.

I like TY very much but there is something about the energy of SG that always makes me smile.

AYE! I disagree with you when comparing to Tattoo You, but I agree, Black & Blue is better than Some Girls.

On the other hand, only 8 songs so whoever was doing the editing was doing their job...naybe a little too aggressively.

gotta go with Tattoo. Dont care if they scraped the bottom of old barrells to get the material. It has a soul, and cohesiveness that Some Girls just doesnt have.

B&B was a marking time album. I find the mood of it quite depressing.

Some Girls for me, but Tattoo You is a great record.

Not a fair comparison since Some Girls was an all-new album and
for Tattoo You they had the chance to revive outtakes as old as 72'.

On the other hand, the outtakes "didn't make the cut" the first time...they were cast-offs from previous sessions that Mick turned into a classic album. I'd say that was quite a feat. He did it again with Plundered My Soul and hopefully for the new Some Girls Deluxe.
