For that kind of rock drummer I prefer John Couglan, but he's good, yeah.

Yes RIP Eric Carr. Haven't analyzed his drumming to be able to comment on it but I trust pepganzo's opinion on it.

There is a rock drummer also gone before his time I'd like to give a nod to here. Michael Lee. Came to my attention watching the Page Plant shows. He was just a blast to hear and watch perform. He also had stints with The Cult, Echo and The Bunnymen and Thin Lizzy. RIP.

Perhaps some you you English cats had the pleasure of watching him bang on those skins, pretty amazing.

Eric played on some albums of Kiss between 1980 and 1990
'Creatures of the night','Lick it up' and 'Music from "The Elder"' are good albums. But Eric was unfortunate because he played in the band in a particular moment. I mean it was not the best time of the band. Kiss returned to be Kiss with 'Revenge' and 'Alive III', so during the 90s.

From the other hand I also like other rock drummers like:
Joey Kramer (Aerosmith), John Siomos (Peter Frampton Band - he played on Frampton Comes Alive) and Steven Adler (Guns N' Roses).

I think current KISS drummer Eric Singer is an excellent drummer. He also played with Alice Cooper.

True.

He played also with Gilby Clarke (ex Guns N' Roses and good slide player) in '99 Live' a very good live album, with another ex GN'R, Tracii Guns.
Here something from the album.

Carr was a fantastic drummer. His drum sound on those early '80s Kiss albums really paved the way for that big, boomy, reverb-heavy snare sound that dominated hard rock in the '80s.

I know a lot of people hate that production style and consider it dated, but you can't deny how influential it was, and Carr was one of the drummers very much responsible for its adoption.

Died too young of heart cancer...very sad story.

Totally agree with eveything you say, in fact he was a pioneer with alot of the stuff he did.
What is worse about his death is that he was also a fantastic person.

I was a huge Metallica fan...I still like them but don't listen too often anymore.

I think Lars is a great businessman and is very generous with his fans, but his drumming is absolutely dire. He was merely "good" at his peak in the '80s, and his skills have deteriorated so rapidly over the past 15 years that it's shocking.

He admits he never practices and prefers to just work out to get in shape for a tour, and it shows.
