Worth posting here not so much because of the Don Was mention, but as a note of how what is considered "hip" can often be unexpected, with a value system that rests on shifting sand.

In the end, quality is what matters.

he recently told the Daytona Beach News-Journal that he wasn’t upset that his life as a singer was nowhere close to his famed father’s career.

“I think in my generation, when I came along in the early ’60s, the type of music that was in vogue in society in those days had moved on to another kind of music,” Sinatra told the newspaper. “I was trying to sell antiques in a modern appliance store.”

I didn't even know there was another Frank Sinatra.

I saw his show a couple years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. He played much of the music his father was famous for and divided it into decades. The stories he told were insightful and entertaining. Honestly, I was given the tickets but I would have paid to see him again upon his return.

Careers rise and fall. I was in downtown Vegas in the late 80s and you could have seen Frank Jr. perform in one of the casino lounges for free. I think an appreciation of Frank Jr. occurred after his father was gone and there was a new interest in his father's work.

It's got to be tough to be the son of such an outsized personality as Frank Sinatra, and who knows how pop handled it. The Stones' kids seem to be okay.

Agree, swim. I saw him at Wolf Trap just last year, and he was wonderful. The show was billed as a "Centennial Celebration" of his father's career. He did indeed tell some great stories and his singing was very good.

Never saw Frank Jr perform, but I did see Nancy, 20 years ago at the Limelight in NYC. Pop-culture fabulousness. Thigh-high boots and a genuinely great version of "You Only Live Twice." Frank Jr was there, too. Standing on a walkway above and behind the stage with some of his celebrity friends .... just keeping an eye on things.
