What to watch this Sunday? The Rolling Stones or the Super Bowl?
Posted by: The Sicilian ()

I can't believe the Stones booked a show on the night of the Super Bowl. The roadies and other people involved with the band get screwed by having to work instead of watching the game. Lets be honest, this is no ordinary game.

Now with periscope, you can watch it live, but what if the finish was like last year? Would you want to miss that?

What will you be watching this Sunday?

Which is worse? Watching a concert that your not at, that is being filmed on a phone, with crappy sound, or a game of American Football? I've only watched NFL once, and that was only because The Stones were on at half time. Safe to say, after Mick, Keef and the boys were finished I turned off!

Both would be a waste of my time. I'll skip it......

The dullest 0-0 game ever could not match the Superbowl for pure mind-numbing tedium. I love sport but how anyone can watch NFL is beyond me.

...to answer my own question: Coldplay, Beyonce and Bruno Mars. (Nothing that will keep me awake anyway.)

Well, people who grew up in North America generally prefer NFL to soccer whereas the opposite is true for most of the rest of the world. It's really that simple - it shouldn't be beyond you.

And our feeling about soccer is mutual. Personally I would rather watch paint dry, than be bored to tears watching the great planet pastime. Since ya'll are so clever, explain the point in having a Jumbo Tron scoreboard, with instant replay no less, in stadiums were games in in ties? Without a winner, it's ain't a sport pal. It's gym class.

In football (soccer) we have a main competition which are leagues which teams compete to win over a whole season, accumilating points (or not) with each weekly game. 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw (tie) and 0 for a loss. (winning the League in a season means mastering the 'long game' in terms of fitness and tactics bearing in mind that teams also have to compete in 2 different simuntaneously run Cup knockout competitions.)

In the knockout Cup competitions which run simultaneously through the season, if the first knockout tie is draw (tie) then the whole match is replayed until there is winner in the second match. Sometimes this means that after 2 hours playing there is penalty shoot out. Someone has to win to go through to the next round.
Football (soccer) is a game of artistry, skill and tactics. Because of that, even a 0-0 can be (but of course not always) really exciting.

If 'you' want a British Bulldog type game where a load of knuckle heads continually knock those heads together giving each other brain damage watch rugby union or even rougher, rugby league or...........even nuttier, Gaelic football (Irish), with NO padding or helmets in any of them............

The Jumbo tron is just to show incidences of exceptional skill. We don't need that to determine whether the ball has gone over the line. There's a micro chip in the ball. When it goes over the goal line a 'pager' type device buzzes in the referees pocket.

I've always said, (tongue in cheek), that when the rest of the world realises that football (soccer) is God's favourite ball game, then we will have peace in the world.............>grinning smiley<

If you are struggling to stay awake to watch the super bowl then you will definitely fall asleep when Coldplay come on.

I can never sit through a whole game anyhow unless I'm actually there. But it will be on in my house, so I'll catch a few minutes here and there - usually do check out the halftime show - and make sure I know who won so I don't embarrass myself the next day. But this year, I have a cyber date with The Rolling Stones. grinning smiley

I'm going to a Super Bowl party, but gonna have headphones so I can follow the concert.

Stones are my priority though.
