Rolling Stones karaoke

WAIT!

This is not about drunk Stones fans singing in a karaoke club!

It's about a frequent pattern the Stones use quite often in the sixties.

See Wikipedia

Many artists, amateur and professional, perform in situations where a full band/orchestra is either logistically or financially impractical, so they use a "karaoke" recording; they are, however, the original artists. (This is not to be confused with "lip synching," in which a performer mimes to a previously produced studio recording with the lead vocal intact.)

We have seen this quite often.. Mick singing for real, and the other Stones mimicking

However, it sometimes turned out to be trickier... In some videos, I think you may see the Stones with their instruments, but also with their gear, at least jacks for guitars... Except they are not playing live. This is the mastermind of cheating.

I think Brown Sugar 1971 at Top of the Pops fits in that category. Mick sings for good. Keith, Mick Taylor and Bill have jacks, but I don't buy it as a live song, especially because this other guy in playing Bobby's part and the sound is so Muscle Shoals. Seems also Charlie has no microphone.
