in case you doubt that Dave was specifically replying to me with his tweet,
know ye this: Dave is quoting from "hercules furens" by seneca the younger,
written aprroximately the same time as the events depicted in my SupaHevy

Have been re-posting some of my greatest hits on another thread. So since its
kinda rare for me to be in a nostalgic mood, might as well dredge this one up too...

I did a search and couldnt find if this one had been posted recently.
Hopefully not, but anyway it matches my mood...

One of Mick's many SuperPowers is that he can actually make Jeff Beck
behave himself musically!

Jeff Beck, Dave Stewart, Mick Jagger "Say You Will"

"Say you will, say you will be mine/
And help me grind, grind this wheel of life"

version issued. With an official music video!

mick jagger, joss stone, dave stewart, nandirah X "wicked time"

1) Rih has tweeted a pic of herself from the set of her music video with
coldplay "princess of china"

2) as you may know, jean simmons of kiss, on the eve of his tour with motley
crue, trashed rih as "fake". Tommy Lee has now had his say:

"Gene Simmons recently mentioned at our Motley/KISS tour announcement on Tuesday
about his distaste for faking it on stage. I somehow got lumped into that by
saying that I, too, am tired of all the watered-down, not-so-real performances
on award shows/live concerts/etc. I am a fan of Rihanna's and think she's an
amazing singer/entertainer
and I think you all know how much I f**king love
electronic music and dance."

SupaRevy, KateMoss, TommyLee, it's like a zombie movie, isn't it? We're coming
for YOU !!!

for your entertainment "waka waka this time for africa" which went
to number one in at least 18 countries a couple years ago.

with 453 million views it is definitely in the running for the
most successful video of all time.

There was something oddly familiar about this track, so i investigated further.
Turns out it is a re-make/re-write of a West African hit from 1986. And in the
West African hit you can hear even more clearly why the song kept giving me
flashbacks. Mick and Dave clearly lifted the rhythm track from it as the basis
of their most infamous of 1987 collaborations (and direct ancestor of SH)
(and maybe most underrated song/video ever). Even the cheap humorous bluescreen
video of the latter may have been was inspired by the former.

Let's Work - Sir Michael's ode to The Baroness Thatcher and neoliberalism. Funny title though for a guy who has never applied for a job in his whole life and whose idea of labour is to work one year and take three years off!

Waka Waka is pidgin/swahiliFang for "Walk while working"!

Which is exactly the theme of the "let's work" video

jiminy christmas! genius like mine and you people get it all for free.
How lucky can you be?

When it was out, I tried to buy the deluxe version and was told it´s out of sale (no chance to get it again). Then the other day, I was looking for another cd - and by chance: ONE only Superheavy deluxe cd was there on store....just ready for me.....

All in all -my first thought was: nice, but too commercial for me - superheavy - superficial

After hearing it again and again I´m nearly hooked....especially with some tracks...

Not that important, but just wanted to share it!!

They're still playing a couple of the reggae based Superheavy tracks on a local radio station here in Hawaii.

Two killer tracks, even if the second one has been butchered by Vevo censoring.
You can find it uncensored on youtube, but without the official video...

AR Rahman featuring Dido

Eminem featuring Dido

As I've mentioned before, the latter song/video is the primary source of the
current usage "stan", as in "I stan for the Stones" or "I stan for rihanna"
or whoever you happen to stan for.

To Stonesrule and many others here: THIS is a good illustration of a point
I have made a few times before. THIS is how one does history.

And if Stonesrule or HBwriter or any other journalist or quasi-journalist sat
down with Mick and Dave tomorrow and they both swore up and down on a stack
of bibles that they did NOT use Waka Waka as inspiration for Let's Work,
do you know how much that testimony would be worth?

Zero.

One does history always just like one does a trial in a court of law,
by looking at the preponderance of the evidence. To the point, if possible,
of being beyond a reasonable doubt. And eyewitness testimony is always
one of the weaker forms of evidence.

I always do my best to practice history, no matter how imperfectly.
Too many others around here practice not much more than hearsay.

pretty cool, yes? or just my imagination?

Dave Stewart | Jumpin' Jack Flash (Mick Jagger)

“Captain Dave is a dreamer and a fearless innovator, a visionary of high order, very delicately tractable on the surface but beneath that, he¹s a slamming, thumping, battering ram, very mystical but rational and sensitive when it comes to the hot irons of art forms. An explosive musician, deft guitar player, innately recognizes the genius in other people and puts it into play without being manipulative. With him, there's mercifully no reality to yesterday. He is incredibly gracious and soulful, can command the ship and steer the course, dragger, trawler or man of war, Captain Dave."
