This is what the Stones celebrity live cd could sound like

I suspect that the idea of a live cd most likely came up after the first few dates as they have started to have artists sing different songs unlike the first few dates when artists like Lady Ga Ga, Mary J Blige and Florence Welch all same the same song...No doubt they will add other big names (Adele) in the near future. Here is what the album would sound like as of today in no particular order...This album would be a big seller.

1/ Eric Clapton - Champagne and Reefer
2/ Lady Ga Ga - Gimmie Shelter
3/ Bruce Springsteen - Tumbling Dice
4/ Katy Perry - Beast of Burden
5/ Sheryl Crow - All Down the Line
6/ Gary Clark Jr - Goin Down
7/ Carrie Underwood It's Only Rock and Roll
8/ Taylor Swift - As Tears Go By
9/ Gwen Stefani - Wild Horses
10/ Keith Urban - Respectable
11/ The Black Keys -Who Do You Love
11/ John Fogerty - The Last Time
12/ Dave Grohl - Bitch
13/ Bonnie Rait - Let it Bleed
14/ Tom Waits - Little Red Rooster
15/ Taj Mahal - Six Days on the Road
16/ Mick Taylor - Midnight Rambler
17/ Bill Wyman - Honkeytonk Women
18/ Brad Paisley - ?
19/ Mary J Blige - Gimmie Shelter
20/ John Meyer - Champagne + Reefer
21/ Florence Welch - Gimmie Shelter
22/ Win Butler - The Last Time

They are 70 year old men they aren't going to have pop hits. The sooner Jagger understands this the better off he will be.

I didn't say it was a good idea. I still think the idea of the Rolling Stones doing duets with the likes of Katy Perry, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift is somewhat pathetic, but it would most likely sell well.

I hope that album will not happen!

Which songs do the Stones play on?

If it is going to happen - wondering the practical trouble to get the rights for all these acts - it surely is a bit different compared to their former live recordings. But how weird it would be listening all these supposed Stones tracks and Jagger doing just 50% of vocals... one after other. A freaky album - once listened through, curiosity satisfied yes, but not much artistic reason to go back. It's not going to be YA-YA'S...grinning smiley

Another thing, as I think discussed in the threads about this possible release, that many of the performances are rather rough (to put it mildly). Lots to do in studio to make it listenable. As a DVD release that's not so important.

There is a guy who talked about that few weeks ago, but about CD and DVD too. I can't find his thread but most people think he was wrong at this time but now more and more people are thinking that a released could be possible. Perhaps a box set with one cd dedicated to the guests.

I believe a Blu-ray/DVD box is more likely.
1 show in complete (plase not the PPV) + footage from the tour
1 documentary on the 1st o2 feat. Wyman, Taylor, Jeff Beck
1 "guests" film but not featuring everybody, since somewere IMHO not "that" great.
1 Glasto /Hyde park documentary

I'd much rather have a DVD of the November O2 shows where they played Lady Jane, I Wanna Be Your Man etc. and then include a nice documentary about preparations for the tour and give us a glimpse of what rehearsals are like. Maybe throw a few bonus tracks from the US tour like Emotional Rescue.

It would be the first Stones CD/DVD I will not buy. God, I couldn't think of anything worse for them to do.

i dont think it's a done deal because not all the artists will give permission to use there vocals on a RECORDING.the stones are not paying the guests and then to use a live cut featuring some artists vocals without some payment long shot , i could be wrong ?

I can't hear anything in this thread, it's dead silent. Maybe the headline be "could look like" ?

I would pass on this if it happened. Doubt if it ever would, though. Apart from contractual issues, the logistics of recording the overdubs - and the resultant sterility of the music - don't bear thinking about.

I would prefer a "Mick-Taylor-and-his-old-mates-in-the-backyard"-CD containing all tracks of this tour with MT.

Ya think?

They'll give permission (although its up to their record company to OK it - conveniently, a sizeable proportion of these performers are on UMG labels) and they'll most definitely get paid for the song they're included on.

If its a single CD, they wont have room for all the guest appearances anyway. And they can always overdub botched versions, such as Gwen Stefani's without any problem.

The most significant thing about all these guest stars is that as yet not a single song has been duplicated on the 2013 leg.

So far, the ratio for 2013 seems to be about one-third or less are in the 'excellent' category (Waits, Mahal, Grohl) about a third 'good to decent' with the remaining third in the 'WTF' bracket.

If theyre planning on this being the live release of the tour, its a horrendous concept that should have been strangled at birth. Hopefully, at worst its something that can be hidden away on a single disc of a multi-DVD release only to be brought out at Hallowe'en to frighten young children.

Thank you, but I'll skip this one. A new studio album is what we need. No guests apart from Mick Taylor please. And Keith will handle all the backing vocals.
