The Rolling Stones Convention

Brixton Academy, London

The first ever Rolling Stones London Convention organised by Shattered Magazine, in association with The Spirit, the Brian Jones fan club. The venue, the Brixton Academy, is the venue for the legendary club gig played by the band in 95. The convention will take place the day before the Stones play Wembley.

Proceeds go to three charities: Shelter (homeless), Gt Ormond Street Hospital and Lambeth Youth Project. Bands aplenty! So far confirmed or being approached are: Mick Avory of the Kinks (first Stones Marquee gig), Tony Chapman (early Stones member), Dick Heckstall Smith (Blues Incorporated), Art and Jesse Wood (Ronnie's brother and son respectively), Alex Party, Brian Knight (Blues by Six/Stones audition), Don Crane and Keith Grant (Downliners Sect), Dave Rowberry (The Animals), The Railing Staines (featuring Brian's ex-girlfriend, Pat Andrews), Fuzzy Blues, Yokahama Sinners + a reggae tribute band, plus very special guests (might be Mick Taylor, but not confirmed yet).

Exclusive video and film footage of the Stones; Record and CD stalls; photo exhibitions (Gered Mankowitz and others); book presentations, including those by Genesis Publications, who have recently publishes two new Stones books (eye.contact, and Wyman Shoots Chagall) and by James Phelge (Phelge's Stones).
