It's Only Rock'n Roll - No. 34 - October 1998
The Rolling Stones Fan Club of Europe

As the European Tour stretched way into late September, we got a total of 37 shows in Europe. Not bad, as we know all the bad luck the Stones had to fight, including accidents, changing tax laws in UK, and the worst summer weather in Europe in many, many years.

As you see Mick on the front page of this issue, in pouring rain during the Hague show, this issue is dedicated to the Bridges to Babylon tour, to the Stones, for taking all the rain and wind, to Ronnie, for ignoring the rain again and again, and taking it all up front stage, to Mick and Keith for healing ribs and throat fast, to Charlie for running his drums warm even during cold, cold days, and to the rest of the band and crew, for taking the shows to new countries, great shows and great crowds. And of course, this issue is dedicated to all the fans, for making the shows so great, in rain or sunshine.

Keith is flying into Toronto on Monday Oct. 19 to do talks and final agreements on the 1999 tours. See exclusive interview in this issue. Now it seems like they will do a spring tour in USA and Canada of 25-35 shows, indoor arenas only, like ice hockey rinks and basketball arenas, starting around Jan. 20 in California, US West Coast. Then there will be a break during April/May, before they do a mini June 1999 tour of delayed shows in UK, and may be Iceland, Italy etc. as well. But not a big tour; a few shows only.

The new live album No Security is just about to be released, as you read this in late October. And both Mick Taylor and Bill Wyman is out touring now. So Stones fans do still get Satisfaction!
