Due to ever increasing debt I'm selling off my 1966 Vox 715... set price of £1650 for head, footswitch and original power cable. I bought it last year and it was serviced by plexi palace forum member oasisbluenose. He'll know more about what was done to it(not that much really), but I still have the original parts he replaced. It also comes with a footswitch. He modified my Vox

Get a Squier Classic Vibe telecaster... Relatively cheap, they are consistently well made, sound and feel great. I recently sold my 3 pickup Gibson les paul custom, bought the squier as a cheap workhorse type replacement that wouldn't be too hard to replace/cost too much were it to get stolen or damaged at gigs etc. It's as good as any guitar I've played or owned! Best bang

QuoteLightnin' According to an insider the studio management are considering to waive the £ 250,- fine issued to Jagger, after the singer explained that he had not been his usual composed self. When questioned about the recent 'Dancing In The Studio' incident, Jagger said: "I couldn't help it. When Mick T started playing, it was as if I'd been taken straight ba

Quotestoneswashed77 what do you mean shop? i think you download illegal, don´t you? Hi there Mr double standards! Got a grudge? No, as far as downloads go I usually only go for stuff you can't buy officially like live stuff, outtakes, different mixes etc. ><

Quoteguyrachel I feel that they are both a bit embarassed by Brian's singing, he looks self conscious as though he's trying to be cool, to be let in - or is that just hindsight ? A mix of all of the above imo. I like that clip a lot, but there is a bit of a clash going on regarding vocals.

Quote71Tele I still think it's an instrument with a built-in effect. Why? None of the basses Bill is shown using at the time had inbuilt fuzz.

QuoteKeefintheNight82 My point of view is, bootlegs are not the same as downloading illegally. You are not taking money directly out of the hands of the artist. If the material is offcially released, then yes, you are stealing if you have an illegal copy. Piracy of an official product and bootlegging officially unreleased studio/live recordings is not the same, but it is still stealing fr

Quote71Tele Some basses of the time had built-in Fuzz switch. I think maybe the Vox Wyman Bass did (can anyone verify?) Not on his Wyman basses, none that he's shown using anyway, his later Vox astro bass had inbuilt fuzz etc though. He got that some time in 1968.

Quotestoneswashed77 no that´s not double standart. bootlegs are a completely different story than stealing official releases! i would consider bootlegs illegal only if they would sound good. but as long as a small recorder and two mics is not gonna get you anywhere near the quality of an official live recording it´s not stealing. that´s like telling me making a video with my cell phone w

QuoteRKH1981 after reading that article, got the impression that the overdubbed outtakes are going to stir up some controversy... Awesome article though! I'm really excited for the re-release. Yes, it seems to imply that some of the tracks may not be from the exile period.

Quotestoneswashed77 i own some bootlegs, but don´t think this is illegal. You have double standards Mr stonewashed77! But it's ok so do the stones and most humans. The band gets no money from those bootlegs nor did they authorize them.

Quoteskipstone So is it a combination of everything we've ever read before all in one mag? Essentially yes. Mick states that it was recorded over a long period of time at various places - Olympic, Stargroves, Nellcote, Sunset Sound. Keith goes more for the myth friendly mostly done in the basement slant, according to Keith the LA sessions being nothing more than for overdubs of chic

Framus or Vox Wyman Bass - Maestro FZ-1A - Vox AC50/100 or Sunn amplifiers. Possible use of DI which would allow you to split the signal which opens up other possibilities regarding where the Maestro was placed in the signal chain.

QuoteDeluxtone But Mick Talyor fans don't wear Knickers! And besides - Sway circa 1970 isn't just about Mick Taylor solos. The thread started off and mostly continued to be a dig about the soloing.

QuoteGazza However, such material belongs on unauthorised or bootleg releases, not on commercial products. The fact that something exists doesnt automatically make it releasable. The GRNRBITW should be about quality - not just content to release any old crap. There are so many way in which such material, even say the best of whats available on bootleg can be released as commercial product. From

Quotestoneswashed77 well, all i can say is. i own 40 gb of music. and when i say i own i mean i have payed for everything of it. i never ever, not even once downloaded illegal. i would never steal music. and i would definately never steal rolling stones music. maybe that comes from being a musician myself. but even if you are not i think this might be a thing to think about again for s

QuoteGazza Doodling is doodling, and singing out of tune unfinished lyrics is just as unlistenable whether it was recorded in 1970 or recorded in 2010. Hmm, such things are of interest to those that are interested in the bands creative process and how the tracks were before they reached the finished version... amongst other things.

Olympic is about much more than the stones! I just hope the building survives and doesn't get demolished or radically changed outside. The 'classic' innards are long gone so that doesn't really matter too much. Is it listed at all? The surrounding area and people are nice, there's a cool little cafe beside it which had some very nice cake when I visited in 2009.

Outside of obsessive fans like us, noone is really interested in hearing recordings of the band playing unfinished songs without any vocals. As a compromise, of the tracks they have overdubbed on to they could have included the before and after versions. There is plenty of space on a CD. This gives them freedom to overdub as they please(which they have anyway), but also allows more hardcore/p

QuoteJJHMick Some addition: In Bill's book the Olympic studios are located in "Carton Street" which I can't find in any register of my London maps (Carson? Carlton? instead). They must have moved, as by 1968 (One + One) Olympic was in Church Road/Barnes. Theregfore, your suggestion that it was cheaper then can be correct, it only later became the well-known (and therefore, sur

Great thread! For sure the post release thread(s) will be equally interesting. Another point of interest is in the Uncut article. Mick hints at the possibility of doing further things like this Exile set in the future, depending on how well this Exile set does. Btw the stones best album is the one you like the best regardless of sales figures or famous musicians opinions. Beggars Banq
