Quotejamesfdouglas Mot sure about medleys... But they haven't come up with any MELODIES in a long, long time. Not since the Black And Blue album at least.

Hold the back page - this just in. The BBC long range weather forecast for the Glastonbury area shows no rain next week up until the first day of the festival. The bad news is that it will chuck it down on the Saturday!! Only joking.

QuoteHis Majesty Quoteflacnvinyl The problem with the Verve is that nothing they ever produced was of the caliber of Bittersweet Symphony. They should have worked something out quietly rather than making a fuss over everything. BUT... again, they never ever ever ever produced a single song anywhere near Bittersweet Symphony. It is their best work, and is really just a loop of a melody of a

QuoteDGA35 Conversely, they gave kd lang a credit on Anybody Seen My Baby since it sounds a bit like Constant Craving. I don't recall that her publishers even launched a lawsuit against the Stones? The story is that Keith's daughter Angela heard the melody and told him where it came from. In his book Life Keith said:"My daughter Angela and her friend were at Redlands and I was playing

Quote24FPS In retrospect there seem to be references to Brian and his fate in earlier Stones songs, 'Lose your dreams and youth, may lose your mind, ain't life unkind'. It's 'Lose your dreams and YOU will lose your mind'.

Inadvertently they sued The Verve for Bittersweet Symphony. Not sure how involved Mick and Keith were but it went through ABCKO. It is based on a sample taken from the Andrew Loog Oldham Orchestra's version of The Last Time.

Quotetomcasagranda They are reissuing Muswell Hillbillies as a 2cd set in August 2013. Fantastic news - one of my favourite ever albums. I bet there's no more studio stuff in the can so it will probably be a live gig from around that time.

QuoteMathijs Quotehot stuff 75 was very exciting. At least in the USA.. 1st time they did Sftd since 69. They did SFTD on each and every 1970 show, and most 1971 shows as well. Mathijs I thought they only played SFTD once on the 71 UK tour - Newcastle 2nd show as an encore.

Some people are very predictable, a bit like a Vegas Stones show... - Doxa Redhotcaret was being predictable with his Brian writing the melody post. Redhotcaret? - now there's a concept. I really enjoyed the Earls Court dates and Knebworth in 76 so no complaints from me. I loved the Black and Blue material so probably helped. But 81/82 was lacklustre - no soul and all emphasis on playing everything way too fast so that was my least favourite.

Quotepaulywaul Quotecrumbling_mice Forgot to add, I always take a fairly good goretex jacket and trousers, but if it's heavy rain, one of those waterproof ponchos are brilliant for standing watching bands in and they only cost about £15. Is this a trek around the Amazon Basin you're getting dressed up for, or a couple of days attendance at a music festival in the UK at (ostensibly) the height

QuoteGreen Lady Make sure you come equipped for rain, but also make sure you have some extra warm layers for the evening. The Isle of Wight has been its usual sunny self and I am several shades browner than I was last week, but Saturday there was a brisk chilly breeze which didn't matter all day, but after 6p.m., waiting for the Killers (brilliant by the way) it was bloody freezing even with eve

A wonderful change of direction for the Stones. We'd had the r'n'b, blues, quintessential English pop, and psychedelia and now with the release of Beggar's Banquest we got, first, a rock samba followed by this delicious piece of country blues. No Expectations set a trend used on their next three albums of including at least one country tune and it worked so well in creating a dynamic of light

Long grey is not a good look on most people, especially rock stars. It doesn't matter in the long run, it's more about the performance than the look these days. AMEN !!
