Hello, Talk about last-minute decisions: I didn't buy a cut-price (£30 instead of £75, thanks Ebay and thanks to the eejit who bought 6 seats and was getting hosed, hah-hah!) ticket until 6.30pm which meant a real dash to the venue but I still missed most of opener Gary Clark's set. That was a shame as I had enjoyed what he had done when he guested with The Stones last December. He did watc

Quotecrawdaddy Didn't know it was his place until I saw a platinum record in the bog while having a pee. Hi CD, Best line on IORR for a while, hah-hah! Echoing all the Steve-love above...looking forward to seeing him in June. A class performer and it is difficult to think of a more talented fellow. Cheers, Simon.

Hi Iain, Thanks for the direction- I'll definitely be checking some of that out. Mind you, Burton and then Lee...couldn't ELH get anyone decent or what? Just two of my (and probably everyone's) favourite players ever, hah-hah! Right, where's my wallet... Cheers, Simon.

Hello, Great to hear that there are a few fans onboard er, this board! @ BrendanJ: bizarrely I have read a few fan reports from that show and they were slating the sound quality...I thought it was crystal and the mix (ooh get her all technical) was fine. Truly was a special show! As with any show that I have loved, how good would an official live release be? On to The Specials next We

Hello, There have been a few too many er, relevant Stones-related posts lately so here I am to right that imbalance, hah-hah! This was my first time seeing either of these artists and I came to them with no real knowledge of their work: to be honest, I barely knew any of the set-list but in the event it didn't affect my enjoyment of this astonishing show one iota. They played two sets (5

Hi Mike, Uncanny: I still haven't decided if I can deal with Hyde Park although it would be a great excuse for a gathering, hah-hah! I got lucky with a decent seat for The Who's Manchester show but the show that I'm genuinely thrilled about is N.Y. & Crazy Horse at Liverpool. Yep, quite a few shows booked...I oughta own f**kin' TM, hah-hah! Cheers, Simon.

Hello, When I heard that E.C. was playing a few shows to push his latest album ('Understated') then I wanted to be in that number: he is a quality artist. I recommend his previous effort ('Losing Sleep') heartily. A standing ovation is his even before he has been able to perch himself on his Peavey speaker: this may sound like a patronising gesture from the audience but it really is the cas

Hello, First time for me seeing PT's wee brother play solo and acoustic: hang on a minute, the guy is 52 years old for Pete's sake, and recently became a grandad too (congratulations!) so go easy on the 'little bro' cobblers... Like the overwhelming majority of the audience last night I've only ever seen ST back-up his sibling in The Who's touring band or appear on the undercard as The Cas

Hi Dreamer, pmk and Eddie, A big thanks for sharing your memories- this is the best part of it for me. Well, aside from the music, hah-hah! You are right- Dury and Jankel wrote some fantastic songs and it is a real joy to hear them played again. Cheers, Simon.

Hi Eddie, If I had even one show then you'd be welcome, but I can only ever be arsed filming one or maybe two songs in a show, hah-hah! And even then I'm not sure it's totally worth it... Sorry to disappoint, mate! Cheers, Simon.

Hi Buffalo, I'm afraid you thought right: Ian passed just over 13 years ago...the last performance by Ian Dury & The Blockheads was February 6th 2000 at The London Palladium. Ian died at 9am on 27th March 2000. His bandmates have continued on with Derek Hussey (aka Derek The Draw, who was I.D's friend/minder) on vocals and he has also co-written some of the band's new material. And it a

Hello, Far from my first time seeing this fantastically talented bunch of fellas: not much to add really...ignore the photos and just look at the set-list which guarantees 90 minutes of top tunes. These guys just have to play the piano intro to 'Wake Up...' and I'm already grinning like an eejit! Sheer joy...thanks guys. ...and an absolutel

Quotetomcasagranda QuoteSimonN Hello, I ain't seen the BBC4 show yet, but I'm enjoying 'Electric' an awful lot and 'Live From Austin Tx' has just arrived. I'm all RT'd up! I may well be a dullard but I haven't noticed an overtly religious aspect to his work...what little I know of it. '1952 Vincent Black Lightning' is still wonderful! Cheers, Simon. Hi Iain, Great write-up! That does sound like a class venue- pleased to hear that Ian and his band delivered the goods yet again. Like there was any doubt, hah-hah! I love the residential aspect of this, where you retire to the bar afterwards to drink and reminisce, instead of having to leg-it for a train or bus or whatever. Civilised, y'know? Here's hoping for a full Rant band tour...I

Hi Iain, You know that you're nailed-on to have a great show: it sometimes amazes me that artists like IH still get a kick out of getting up there, even after a ton of gigs but he still manages to keep it fresh for himself (and us too) somehow. On a side note, I get a kick out of reading about other IORRians concert going history (see Midnight Toker's tale above...btw, any photos of your ex

Hello, Pleased to hear that Macca and four of the most talented musos are going out again and if I had to back any act to give you a whirlwind and quality three hours for top-dollar, then this would be it. Not sure I would go purely because on his last UK jaunt I saw two literally perfect shows and the urge is to leave it there. Probably sounds like I'm contradicting myslef a bit, but it wa

Hello, Not my first time seeing IH, I am happy to say and yet again he showed about 300 punters why he remains a class act. He has such a natural way about him and is happy to address folk who wander in and out to either get more or get rid of beers, as well as introducing a few songs but often he runs almost straight into the next number- not in a 'let's get this over with' fashion though.

Hello, On the advice of a mate who loves The Avetts, I took a punt on going to a show that ordinarily I would never have otherwise...take a bow Marge! The other thing that knocked me sideways was the fact that it was almost a full hall for the support act, Grace & The Nocturnals. However, it was only when Grace walked onstage that I realised why. Wow! At the risk of being (correctly) l

Hello, I had been looking forward all week to seeing Mr. Cray and his band all week, especially after reading Gotdablouse's post concerning a recent RC show. I decided to drive down to Manchester (done this journey approx. a gazillion times) instead of taking the train and having a drink or two...and 20 miles into the trip I see that my preferred route has a road closure so I sail on down t
