QuoteHis Majesty Horrible song, please don't! hot smiley It's an a-typical Stones song, but it's not horrible. Lyrically, it's one of the groups better efforts and the solo at the end ranks right up their with CYHMK. Still, I don't think it would come off well live. Although, the crowd doesn't seem to care what they play at these concerts. I wish someone would get that point across to Mick.

Quote JumpinJeppeFlash These MT threads are so pathetic. Get it, he is not a bandmember, he is a guest. Amongst Stones fans he's the most popular guest they've ever had, so it's not exactly pathetic to say we want more of him, but I see where you're coming from...it's a distraction to keep whining instead of enjoying the tour.

So daspy wants to share his recordings online and still retain control over how they're shared? That's totally unrealistic. Once the milk's out of the bottle, there's no use crying over it. If he wants to keep his recordings private, then he should keep them locked away in the basement like some weird art collector, but don't share them on torrent sites and expect to maintain control over how th

I love this mix. Crowd is audible, but not overpowering. It has a great balance of instruments with just a touch too much arena reverb. Great job buy the taper!

"Emotional Rescue" and all the other disco era banalities. "Miss You" basically blows too. This post doesn't belong in the "Buy/Sell/Trade" section though. Post in "Tell Me" next time.

Quotecn854 Philly 1972, it will never get any better than this! Just to weigh in...I totally agree. The Amsterdam '95 version is great, but it's a diamond in the rough as far as post 1975 performances of this song. The 1972-73 Taylor versions were the best, with some real competition from 1975 versions.

I'm very excited that The Stones are back on the road, but I have to be honest, Mick Taylor on only 1 song is very annoying. Instead of merely billing the show as a 50th anniversary celebration, they should actually celebrate their history by allowing Taylor to play on a few more tunes from his tenure with the band, which if we're honest, was the period that produced the band's best output.

I disagree with the premise that a band can't put on a great show if there's tension or dislike among members. The Who put on great shows and they had a lot of tension. The GNR fan says, "like there were four different personalities..." that's The Who in their heyday.

Just watched in it's entirety. I have to say, the sound on here is better than the PPV Newark show. Hats off to all who put forth such an immense effort in synching the sound, gathering the multi-cam images, and just making all the footage flow. A true labor of love!

Thanks for offering to share it, Rolling On! I didn't even think of the audio issue. One new note, mine is actually the Joint Trip version, not Apocalypse Sound. If you can share either version here, that'd be awesome. If not, please drop me an email at laughingsam5576@yahoo.com

I have an incomplete version of this DVD. It's by Apocalypse Sound and has a lot of footage from the Paradiso '95 and Olympia '95. I just watched my half-version last night and was reminded of how great they played these shows. Does anyone have this or know where I can find it? I'll post it to The Stones Vault if I find it first. I think everyone should have this one.

I agree with you all who're saying the sound on the PPV special was lousy. My wife never got to see a Stones show, so I ordered it and figured that even if the band was mediocre or washed up, at least the sound should be great -- I even shelled out the extra $10 for HD! During the first few songs I constantly adjusted my system, figuring it was my system settings that made it sound so flat. "

QuoteMKjan I would not think it wise to use Grammies as a mark of validation. Absolutely true, MKjan. Who the hell cares about Grammies? Those awards go to the most artistically destitute, merchandised musicians year after year.

QuoteStonesTodd Quote Laughingsam I offered my opinion and I'm not surprised by the few responses as I've always known Led Zeppelin fans to become belligerent, mouth-frothing lunatics when comfronted with the slightest criticism of their band. this differs from stones fans how? 2 ways: 1 - Stones fans aren't as rabidly insecure as Zeppelin fans 2 - The Stones made so

treaclefingers Quote@Laughingsam...if you really believe that Led Zeppelin have never created anything comepletely original then that tells me that you've never really listened to their complete catalog and are in no position to make such a rediculous claim. I listen to them all the time. I qualified them as an "unforgettable" and "powerful" band. Just because I don't consid

I think people from England overstate Led Zep's success. They copped an array of American Blues and played it in a very powerful way, which makes them an unforgettable band. But greatest of alltime? Surely anyone aspiring to that title must create something completely original, something totally their own, which Led Zep never did. I don't like ranking music or judging art as better or worse, b

I used to be a public affairs writer and immediately thought it was a poor choice of words. But in context, it was just a harmless comment carelessly rendered by a man who writes and performs music for a living. There was no malicious intent. He was there to support the benefit concert and that's the important thing. People who take issue with it are either being hyper-sensitive or they just don'

Forgive me for chiming in late, but I'm watching it on a delay. I thought The Stones were uninterested in putting anything memorable together for tonight's benefit. Just finished up with The Who and think they're hte highlight of the show. Townshend's "have a F%^&ing Beer!" examplifys everything they're about and their set was awesome.

Great thread! QuoteSilver Dagger This song is a Stones masterpiece and the one by which we now measure their live shows. It's also, when played live now, just about the last vestige of a bygone era, a spyglass peak into the great tours between 69 and 76 and a look at how their incredible rhythm section works. It's the song that allows the band to open the throttle, shift up a few gears and

And pray tell, when did looks become so important when playing in The Rolling Stones? I love 'em to death, but these guys look like they crawled out of the crypt. I doubt Mick Taylor's appearance factored into whether or

QuoteGADAWG Right, I am paying $1,000 to see the only semblance of music that I hold dear to my memory. Dying to see a 50 year old Rock and Roll band one more time and a neophyte from 2001 is robing me of their time. Send them to the benefit thing, but please not the Stones stage!!!! The Stones are going to have guests no matter what. Would you rather Sheryl Crowe or someone like that "

QuoteGADAWG WHO IN THE FUK ARE THE BLACK KEY'S? I am guessing they are not a group of white folks. I'm shocked at how many people don't know this group. They are white guys who play garage-rock and swampy blues. If Jack freakin' White shared the stage for "Shine A Light", then The Key's Dan Auerbach can definitely pull it off. Unlike Jack White, Auerbach can actually sing. The guy's

Quotemickschix I couldn't care less about GAGA or Black Keyes... You may not care, but The Black Keys are a great choice. They're a blues band who cut their teeth on Fat Possum Records -- one of the best delta blues labels around -- The Stones are terrific at live blues. Plus Dan Auerbach can belt out gruff and guttural vocals that would stand perfectly alongside Mick's style ob blues #'s.

Gaga is a horrible choice, but it'll widen the bands appeal with younger audiences. Springsteen and The Black Keys are outstanding choices though and I can't wait to hear what they play. My choices: Springsteen - "Little Queenie" or "Let It Rock" or "It's All Over Now" (Just straight-ahead rock n roll, which Springsteen is very adept at) Black Keys - "

I hope (like some of you) that they give us an officially released document of these gigs. The majority of us can't afford to attend these shows and if the band truly cares about and wishes to thank all their fans for sticking with them all these years, they ought to offer more than a $40 pay-per-view concert, which has been done in the past. Anything short of a multi-DVD set of these shows i
