I think Mick's current vocal style would work with Silver Train, and obviously Taylor's guitar. I'd love to hear it. But could Keith drive they rhythm?

I much prefer the Stones with Keith driving the rhythm and Taylor exploring leads than hearing Keith and Ronnie 'weave'. Listening to 1972 and then 1973, it sounds like Taylor is gaining confidence in 1973 and playing more than he did in 72...but it also sounds better to me. I think Taylor's playing pushed Keith. Ronnie is content to not push anything, and just have fun.

Easy to see the reason for a short tour: there is not enough gas in the engine. Keith is struggling on basic solos, hitting his own riffs. As for Grohl's comments on the Lemmy trailer, I saw them and he is right on target. People joke that it is amazing Keith is still going after all the drugs. But while he thankfully is still alive, his skills and fire are long gone.

Insult Ronnie? Ronnie insulted paying fans with being wasted on-stage ad playing poorly for a couple of decades. If he wants respect or adulation, do something with the Stones to EARN it. Love his playing with The Faces. Still waiting to hear that with the Stones.

Quoteandrewt Quotetreaclefingers Quoteandrewt Quotetreaclefingers Quoteandrewt QuoteGRNRBITW i'm sure chuck leavell is gonna be blamed for this...so sad. Why sad? Don't be sad. Andrew, that response absolutely has to be acknowledged. I think even StonesTod, wherever he may be, would have enjoyed that. It requires an absolutely sharp 'eye on the ball' following the thread VERY closely.

Tough one. Attitude, or songs or rebellious or influence? I will go Eddie Cochran. Definitely not the squeaky clean or romantic 50's rocker that others were. Wrote songs and gave us the immortal teenage rebellion of Summertime Blues. Considering he had one album in released in his lifetime, he was covered by The Who, Teenage Head, Sex Pistols, White Stripes, The Damned, etc. I believe h

QuoteGRNRBITW Quotebuffalo7478 I would think they have a guarantee from the promoter for a set amount. I don't see Mick or Keith as the types who would give back a penny to a promoter. But the article is very right on: "Price does matter," said Gary Bongiovanni, editor of the concert industry publication Pollstar. "The market is speaking." There is little, if any, buzz

QuoteChris Fountain Quotebuffalo7478 sadly Stevie Ray Vaughn had nothing to do with the tour. He is still resting comfortably having died years ago. Little Steven (of the E Street Band) is a huge Rascals fan and got them back together. I had never realized how big they were back in their day. I meant Van Zandt - my mistake Sorry was being a wise-ass.

Just watched the 'official' YouTube video highlights for Staples and IORR was one of the songs featured. It sounds like a disjointed mess - which it often does live after 1975. It seems like the guitars should carry it, but don't. Keith sounds challenged. The only song I have heard from Staples that sounds great is Emotional Rescue...maybe as it needed little from Keith and Ron?

Perfect live song for the middle of the set. Gives you just enough time to hit the beer concession and the rest room and know you didn't miss anything on stage. (though they could accomplish the same with a 10 minute intermission)

The promoter messed up and gave the Stones a monster guarantee. The Stones took the cash in a huge money grab, maybe not questioning how what a promoter would have to do to raise that kind of cash for each show. Now we have ridiculous ticket prices. I can pay $600 for a seat, but the principle of it annoys me. That they papered LA with $85 seats to fill in the gaping holes left by slow sales

If they tour again at these prices, will it depress early ticket sales even more, knowing you can gamble and maybe pay $85 and get a $600 seat at the fraction of the price? I never thought interest in the Stones would decline enough that they would have to heavily discount tix to fill a 20,000 seat arena. But I also thought they would never be into such a money grab that they would try char

Plundered My Soul is the one 'outtake' I have heard that could have belonged on the record. It has the 'feel' of an early 70s Stones thing, even with Mick's more modern voice. Taylor's solo sounds like it came out of 1972. It is IMHO their best release in 30 years.

Setlist for the tour: This Place Is Empty Now (Cover of Burt Bacherach/Elvis Costello version) Running On Empty (cover of Jackson Brown, Ronnie on Peddle Steel) Big Empty (STP Cover, with Scott Weiland guesting) Empty Spaces (Pink Floyd Cover) Empty (with Ray Montagne guesting) Or they will do what other bands have done (and I did when I promoted shows) and suddenly drop prices and do m

Beyond the obvious money grab, I think they also missed an opportunity to turn on some younger fans. The same teenagers who 'found' AC/DC and fill some of their shows show be seeing the Stones, but not at these prices.

QuoteVT22 QuoteDoxa Re that "Brown Sugar" clip... It is really a treasure to listen and watch Keith Richards there. He is really getting better and better gig by gig since he started to play the guitar again. I can't recall when that simple riffage has sounded so cool and groovie. Keeping the rhythm down-down-down with that idiosyncratic timing, and those little tasty runs here and t

Bob Weir looks just like the dude that lives under a bridge and panhandles for cash to buy booze around the corner from my office. I sincerely hope he's Ok. I was never a Dead fan, but liked a few of Bob's contributions - you could tell he appreciated rock n roll. QuoteSilver Dagger They did Dead Flowers at the 02 but should incorporate into their full set. Love to hear Time Waits For No One and as an opener Have You Seen Your Mother baby, Standing In The Shadow. I have seen them do a couple of attempts at Dead Flowers live. When it works, it is great. Have also seen it not work with Ronnie and Keith way off where it was embarrassing.

Show Woody respect like he showed by being wasted and/or careless and playing crappy leads during several tours for paying audiences? Woody may be one of the nicest guys in rock music. I respect him for that. His playing with the Faces was great. But I am not a fan of his playing with the Stones at all - especially LIVE

These shows were all announced today, taking place in Lewiston, NY, right on the Canadian border between Buffalo and Toronto. Not all things I would go to, but all at low prices of $5 to $8 per show (OK, not price is low enough to sit thru REO Speedwagon, but the others as a value). Instead of buying ONE ticket to the Stones in Toronto for $625, you could buy 90 to 125 tickets to see any of thes

As long as tix aren't $625 apiece, I would go. The Stones were once trendsetters. I hope high ticket prices are not one of those trends. I think a JBG/Faces thing would be more exciting anyway - something we have not all heard/seen for years.

I blew off the Buffalo show in 1997 (?)though I live close enough to the stadium that I could hear the show from my house. Then again, 40,000 other people blew it off as they played to a less than half full venue. I remember thinking for the first time that their days of drawing instant stadium sellouts was over.
