I doubt that enough people to make it happen would join a campaign for the SG & Exile "bonus material" to be released on vinyl ...but please shout up if you'd welcome it

QuoteDoxa Swiss, thanks for photos and review! Didn't know it was your first Stones concert - wow! I was thinking of writing a piece of that some time ago - about the first personal Rolling Stones concert, which is an experience cannot be repeated. Especially if that had been waited for a long time. For me it took some 13/14 years of deep fanhood to make that dream come true, and I had lost my ho

I'm sure they'll put one out, with a DVD and all usual fancy editions ...but not until the "tour" is over. So with that still a bit open ended...It's hard to say when.

Got a very nice VL Tour leather bike jacket...but it's about three sizes too big for me ! Same goes goes for goes most of my tour T shirts from the last 40 years. I haven't shrunk...I just used to always buy clothes far too big ! Current fashions rather frown on it ! When baggy clothes come back...I'll be laughing

Quoteelectricmud The setlist is second row. To me the most important thing is that they keep their enthusiasm and playing as in 2012. Hope that they don´t start posing (Keith) and fooling around (Ronnie) instead of playing. Hope they keep the energielevel high with the added background musicians, guitars upfront, less horns and no polishing. That is my dream. Tom Amen to that

Quotegotdablouse QuoteMathijs An outtake from Talk is Cheap. Mathijs Source ? Or did you forget to start with "It sounds like..." ? It fits the bill in more ways than one. The first "oooooohhhhhh baaybeeeeeeeeeeh" made me chuckle. It sounded like Mick keeping in Keith's typical vocal pre-amble from his demo cut... I reckon he sung it for the laugh.

QuoteDandelionPowderman Many tend to forget the nice minor chords you get with open G-tuning... Very true. And the droning "modal" effect is a big part of the sound. The other thing about Keith's open G approach is that it makes the fingering very basic for most of the time... allowing the player to focus on the touch, timing and dynamics which are the secret of great "gro

It's got up sides and down sides but it's hard to see how they could have gone any other way. Tne "modern era" Stones have kind of been victims of their own continued popularity and pulling power. They couldn't really have downscaled, even if they'd wanted to. Big Stadiums & Arenas required a big production...which required discipline and a certain amount of predictability.

QuoteSilver Dagger Of course there is no reason for them to stop touring but it is unprecedented what they are doing - a major band rolling on and continuing to play major shows. From that point of view they are breaking new ground. I have no worries that Mick will continue to be as agile as he has always been until his last dying breath. As long as Keith and Ronnie can keep up with him then

You don't say which song you mean ! but I'm guessing JJF. The original recording was, I think. mostly in standard tuning but it's hard to spot how all the guitars are tuned. Pretty much since then Keith has played it live in his Open G Tuning . D,B,G,D,G high to low with a capo at the 4th fret...so in B. This tuning gives the riff subtly different implied chords.

Quotesteini Regarding posing. As weird as it may sound (because we are talking about the elegantly wasted..) i´ve always been extremely greatful to be a fan of a band were the guitarist plays as he is alive visualy (something Mick Taylor did not do until 2012! visualy)! Although Keith has had a bad gig now and then in 2007 i´m still tired of this posing talk, it is him and everyone has it´s o

..as for the moves and shape throwing . This has been discussed and disected around here for years..but really started in 81/82 and grew from there . It's echoed in Mick's performances too. That tour was the first with a really big stage set and , as Mick has himself often hinted, this precipitates a rather charicatured stage performance. It's interesting that now both MicK and keith a

It might suprise some folks just how much respect keith is held in by a lot of "serious" musicians and players ;. Many of us don't look past the basic technical skills to see the artist beneath. I don't get into arguments about who was or is "best guitarist in the world". It usually throws up the usual list of technical virtuosos. But if you ask about who might be th

QuoteHis Majesty Never, ever would I say that the atmosphere of the Stones was relaxed and happy. These five incredibly strong personalities were definitely guarded, controlling their emotions. They weren't very open with EACH OTHER, so they certainly couldn't have appeared relaxed to outsiders! It was just this tension, a moodiness, a sulking. You could never call them hypocrites. They're all ve

Just my 2 cents. The only way to choose a guitar is on it's own terms. It doesn't matter whether it's old or new. Every one is a little different and some will appeal more than other when you play and hear them. That said, you've already indicated your awareness that newer Martins tend to have more friendly necks and, on the whole, better playability . I terms of overall quality o

There's certainly room for vinyl independents to mske a healthy living. It just needs to industry to admit to itself that there is still a market there worth catering for. Not a huge market... but viable and worth developing.

If on line suppliers like Amazon weren't effectively allowed to trade as off shore companies and paid their bloody taxes...the price gulf and impact on the high street might not have been so huge. That said . Folks not buying hard copy music these days is another very sad story, and represents the real coffin nails.
