Can we expect a mention of Brian & Stu? No need to dust off the Shelley - just a few words during the show would be great. Jagger could probably still fit into the Hyde Park dress that he borrowed from Sammy Davis, Jr.

QuoteGravityBoy What's Keith going to do? Same thing he did when they played it live in '73, I suppose.

This would be a wonderful song for them to play with Mick Taylor. I believe they only did this live once; does anyone know for certain? They should do it at Hyde Park (With Bill! Doubt it.). I'm sure that July 1969 indeed seems about 100 years ago.

I'd LOVE to hear them do a bluesy album, recorded on ANALOG gear with minimal overdubs, produced by someone like Rick Rubin or Jack White, with Wyman & Taylor participating.

All things must pass. We'll always have the music, and hopefully more unreleased live & studio stuff will see the light of day. 50+ years - wow, what a ride. I do feel that Mick will continue performing into advanced old age, with or without the group.

I'd love to see them do "Flight 505" on the B-stage. They could even work in a quick mix of Stu's best moments as they're walking out, and the intro to this wonderful track is one of his highlights IMHO. Love this video of the guys in their early globetrotting days.

Jigsaw Puzzle would've been a groovy song to play at the RnR Circus.

Quotestonesrule John's "lost weekend" circa 1973 was fairly short-lived and he had definitely matured in the next years. I say this because I knew him. stonesrule, do you have any stories that you can share with us? someone can kindly redirect me if this has already been covered. Respectfully, watts fan

Keith is so focused on the music, and the presence of a camera really annoys him here. Check out the quick uncomfortable glare at 2:15. By the 4:23 mark, he has clearly had enough.

Jerry Allison is definitely underappreciated. It's neat to see him sitting behind the kit, talking about the songs and demonstrating the drum parts. A very laid back personality and a great drummer.

Sonny was great in his own right. Can't forget about the classic "Baby Don't Go."

Agreed - there's no doubt that Hendrix never meant for most of this to see the light of day, and some of it has been disappointing even for fanatics like me. Still, I am looking forward to this and hoping I play it more than once or twice.

The title is great, and it was one of Jimi's own. He played around with the idea of releasing a triple LP of all of the stuff he was working on in 1970. I wonder if the cover art will follow Jimi's original concept of a collage of different people (good and evil) spanning all races. The track listing is interesting. I have been a Hendrix fanatic for 20 years, and some of this is new to me

Might be time for me to re-think a work trip scheduled for Wednesday near Baltimore.

stonesrule, do you remember what John had to say about Hendrix? I'm a huge Hendrix fan. I know that Jimi & John got to know each other a bit, particularly during the early days when Hendrix was the talk of London, but I never knew that they were close. Any stories you could share would be much appreciated!

The double LP "Steppenwolf Live" is fantastic. I discovered it in my dad's record collection and still play it years later. It's a great album to blast if you're standing around a firepit drinking beer. Larry Byrom was the guitarist on that album and he had such a great tone.

Moonlight Mile is my favorite album-closer, but Crazy Mama is right up there. I love the beautifully weird melodic riff that Ronnie plays during the ending & fade. It always seems to fade out too quickly for me.

QuoteNutbox This is DC's 1963 Red Sparkle English Rogers as seen above. It was presented by DC as first prize in a competition in 1966 and I bought it from the winner. Wow, Nutbox. That's a really cool kit with great history behind it! I read somewhere that Charlie never liked Rogers drums. They made some really nice stuff during their Cleveland & Dayton eras. I am a vintage drum e

I saw them at Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh, September 29, 1994. It was my first Stones show. Blind Melon was the opening act. I snuck in with a friend who knew the ushers and we stood way in the back. I remember getting excited when Keith played a Les Paul for Satisfaction.

Eddie Kramer discusses this in the Electric Ladyland documentary from several years back (1996?). Part of this clip is played, and Eddie Kramer says something to the effect of "We have a visitor! None other than Brian Jones," and notes that after a few tries, the piano idea was nixed, and that he was given some percussion to play. Mitch Mitchell comments on this in the film as well.

Great stuff, hbwriter. Thanks for sharing. It's too bad that there was no mention of John Densmore. I know that he & Ray have had some kind of falling out over the last 10 years or so, and it's a shame the 3 of them can't get together for this type of retrospective. They sounded great in the VH1 Storytellers special several years back!

The cover photo was taken the day of his last concert, at the Isle of Fehmarn. Hendrix looks pretty happy in the photos from that day, which is surprising if you know the circumstances. The recordings from that '70 European tour are fascinating.

Thanks for the heads-up on this. Caesar has done great work with UniVibes and Electric Gypsy, so I'm looking forward to this. Any other Hendrix fanatics here? Does anyone know of a Hendrix site as informative + well-done as IORR?

Check out the Tele on MT's side. When I first saw it, I thought it may have been the same one used by Brian in the JJF promo, but this one looks like it has a Stratocaster neck.
