QuoteGravityBoy The hours.. oh the hours... Very interesting. I would also like to hear the Mrs. Mills party record referenced above. My own special memories include the Smiths' Hatful of Hollow and The Queen is Dead, and anything by The Doors and Led Zeppelin.

Quote71Tele November Rain by Guns 'N Roses: They were in pure Spinal Tap mode. Let's Work by Mick a close second. LOL. Very true. I was a Guns fan but they were ridiculously self-indulgent at that point. Maybe I'm getting soft in my old age, but I think it's a bit unfair/overly harsh that one bad video ended Billy Squier's career. So the guy dressed in pastel colors and danced awkwardly -

That's what I heard too (from a different source), that Bianca did not come from a wealthy or prominent family. "She's nobody," my friend said - these Nicaraguans all seem to know each other's business. This stuff just gets repeated over the years.

The Daily Wail's story on beautiful Bianca: I heard from a very reliable source that Bianca did not fare well financially from the divorce. She is not wealthy, or so I was told.

I still like that song! I remember as a kid at mass the priest humorously criticizing this song for its lax morals (he recited the lyrics in the chorus, very drolly). It got a big laugh from the congregation.

And Fleetwood Mac's "Oh Well" - Pagey said that up-front. They weren't ripping anyone off; ideas touch off other ideas, and so on. It's a joke that anyone would say Zep's Stairway is a rip-off of Spirit's Taurus, because Stairway takes that eensy little chord progression and develops it and expands upon it, creating a sweeping epic with drama and dynamics aplenty. "Taurus" is

I don't hear any similarity between Eddie Cochran's "Nervous Breakdown" and Zep's "Communication Breakdown." Actually though, "Livin' Lovin' Maid" quotes that little riff in Nervous Breakdown.

QuoteGasLightStreetPlant fully admitted to nicking Willie Dixon ... Robert's joke at the O2 was [paraphrase] "and I don't know who he nicked it from." Oh how we laughed. It's a valid point though - all music comes from other music.

Quotelatebloomer The article seems to be the second part of an "instalment of the Mail’s major four-part series about Jagger’s women." Anybody have a link to the first part? I tried searching for it on the Daily Mail's site, but it didn't come up. It's the Marianne article linked on the first page of this thread. I imagine Bianca is next, then Jerry or a catch-all piece en

Said to be very beautiful but I've never seen a picture. I believe she wrote an autobiography IIRC. Sounded depressing. QuoteDGA35 I recall seeing an interview with Steven Tyler a few years ago when he was asked where Aerosmith ranks. He said below the Stones but above Zeppelin! Are you sure? The Aerosmith guys have been Zep worshippers forever. Steven was quite humble in his autobiography about his (failed) audition to be the singer in a touring band w/ Page and JPJ. Tyler said no matter what, it was a privile

Quotedcba I just downloaded the two brand new SB tapes that were just released in Japan (Landover'77 May 25 & 30) and frankly it's 5 five hrs of boredom and head-scratching. What's appalling is they try hard to bring a great rock show but nothing really takes off. That's not quite fair. The 1977 shows were notoriously erratic due to Pagey's delicate condition. Keith had his own struggles

Quotelatebloomer It's different, I guess, but when I am sad I avoid sad songs, they just make me feel worse. Instead, I turn up my favorite rockin Stones songs which inevitably get me moving and chase the blues away. Stones music is the best for zapping depression. When I'm really really down, songs like Brown Sugar and Rip This Joint breathe the life force back into me. None of their songs

QuoteElmo Lewis I think "Hot Dog" is a cool fun song. It is, but I wonder what Page was thinking in letting that guitar solo on - it rivals George Harrison's "All You Need is Love" solo in lameness. I wonder if it was Pagey's comment on (some) people criticizing his technique as sloppy.

The last time I saw them was 2010, and maybe 2 years before that as well. Update: someone on YouTube claims they asked Stephen's wife if he'd had a stroke and she replied: "NO, Stephen did not have a stroke. He speaks this way because he is severely DEAF. He wears TWO hearing aids now, and even with hearing aids, he still doesn't have full hearing in one ear." This is the clip:

QuoteDoomandGloom CSNY's drug use was much darker in mood than The RS. More like guys locking themselves away in rooms, not a bit of elegance. Crosby was a paranoid who carried a pistol and Stills was a desperate type. It was never about a party with them, Keith and Ron liked to have fun, Stills' stories are so scary I'd never repeat them. I was with Judy Collins once and she was looking for

Quoteuhbuhgullayew "The Stones and Springsteen and Zeppelin were bigger than ever this year – because we crave certainty in troubled times" AND because music was significantly better back in the day. Amen to that. Where the hell did all the talent go? Was it all just a fortuitous demographic freak, caused by the post-war Baby Boom?

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 HBWriter needs to see this thread. Kind of ties in w/ what he puts together in US. There are already several books on the topic (not Stones specific, just London rock 'n roll landmarks in general). Maybe HBWriter could do a Stones travel guide to Britain! There is one on Led Zeppelin that is excellent.
