QuoteMisterDDDD QuoteJumpinJackOLantern Tonight ends the western swing. Wonder if this is it for the west coast? I mean, forever? Kind of a strange feeling to think that this may be the last performance ever on the west coast. No. They'll be back next year. Like Keith has said... once the wheel starts rolling... From what I understand there are more 'legs' of this 'tour' planned in the US

QuoteDoomandGloom saw it the pages about Taylor, it seemed credible, someone will be more specific, he said MT's playing time will be decided based on rehearsal and performance I believe. In the meantime he sits in on Satisfaction, begs for more monitor volume while Keith plays all the leads. Very credible. This has been the problem with Taylor for a long time. Always carping about sound onstag

Quotestonehearted Well, it isn't the seventies--or even the eighties--anymore, so things aren't as wild backstage before a gig like before. How do you know they haven't been wrapping gifts? They're traveling, they have days off, they might have gone shopping and bought stuff to be sent out in the mail, for friends and family and the like. Mostly obscured by the flowers, it looks like a couple

Quotestonehearted Perhaps he's visiting with Ronnie to go over the fan choice: Sway? There is a nice piece of paper on that coffee table seemingly bleached out. The light is bouncing off of it. It looks like a bit of wrapping paper, with a couple of gift-wrapped items underneath. Besides Mick is the one who decides on the set lists--Mick Jagger, that is. The others merely sign off on it

Quotestonehearted Emotional Rescue was the right album at the right time. It exemplifies the trends and contemporary sounds they were trying to incorporate at the time. But not a trendier sound and feel for an album as ER. They were still trying to be current and viable at that time. You keep stressing this point. What beyond the "disco"/dance of the title track was so overwhelming

QuoteDoomandGloom I bet Keith couldn't even name a Doors song much less play one. Still more enviable qualities in Keith. I only wish the archives of my mind could have similar omissions.

Quotestonehearted Emotional Rescue was the right album at the right time. It exemplifies the trends and contemporary sounds they were trying to incorporate at the time. The Some Girls extra tracks are outtakes for a reason. They are more typical of a trend-free approach and could just as easily have been recorded and released earlier in the decade, and as far as a band edging into middle age a

Quotekeithglimmer But when he started to wear silly capes and became fat he was more than a Parody of hisself agree ??? His back up band in the 70s was absolutely killer. Tight as a all hell every night. His voice went through periods of being great and being terrible (compared to what it used to be) but his band was always on in those 70s years. He's bigger because the cultural change he

Kudos for trying Emotional Rescue. But I think it will go the way of Hot Stuff in 1994. J

Billy's open for offers (Preston was known to have very open 'tastes' on the road -- including younger men/boys) Ronnie's gay Keith is 'straight' (play on his being 'clean'/drugs etc.) Charlie is a sort of maybe (meaning not sure if straight/gay is how I always took it) Bill just wants to take photographs of girls' legs (always took it to mean = perv) So now is the time someone needs to as

Quotekowalski Really nice setlist. Hard to do better than this with 14 songs. Hardly. The most conservative small/club show setlist they have ever done as far as song choice goes. Compare this to Sir Morgan's Cove, Toad's, RPM, Horseshoe, Double Door, Palais Royale, etc. All had songs they hadn't done before or for a significant period of time (i.e. different band members etc.). I wouldn

Quotelatebloomer QuotePhil Good Quoteuhbuhgullayew She's pretty. You think so? Normally I would agree, but I don't think this is very flattering at all. The poor child looks like she needs someone to throw a warm coat over her or feed her a decent meal. really? She looks drunk or stoned or whatever but she definitely looks like she's having the time of her life that's for sure.

QuoteTooTough There is something similar around, Giants Stadium 97, done by an amateur with all access pass, too. Yes, "The Roadie Tapes" of both nights. I still can't figure out what that stuff was used for. There's barely a single solid camera shot. Camera man is always moving. Possibly one of the cameras running for some of the big screen shots, but again, he doesn't stay on anyt

No, we don't think of ourselves as a 'group' We are not one country. In fact, many Brits don't even consider themselves 'European' as we're not part of the mainland. same as we texans don't consider ou

I'm guessing this is the raw footage from ABC-TV's 20/20 piece about the 1981 tour. Rona Barrett interviewed Mick and the live footage was mainly from You Can't Always Get What You Want from Detroit. Looks like they had quite a lot of access. This is the typical stuff that runs under a voiceover: "it takes a team of blah blah to set up the massive stage" "at 40 years old Jagger

Quotefalo01 they are of course no soundboards/pro shots. don`t think we will get one but yes, maybe godfatherrecords made an IEM. better than just audience. Actually, I would say it is more than likely that we will see a pro-shot/soundboard recording of the 12/13/12 show at some point. There is little doubt that, much like the HBO concert for Jan. 18 2003, the preceding show was used as a

QuoteRokyfan I think there is probably truth to the weakness of Keith, think it's very possible it's a huge effort for him to suck it up for these shows. That he is pulling it off so well (I'm talking about the playing, not the song selection that has some so up in arms) is impressive. Hey, at least he is playing guitar on BOTH of the songs he gets to do. Last time I saw them (the last

Quotefrozengold Maybee Mick Taylors problem was that he played MR the way he did in 70´s and didn't listen to Keith and Ronnie. The Stones play it different today. I think the problem was he wasn't listening to the band he was playing with Sunday night. I'd hardly call what he played "Midnight Rambler" at all.

Find or download Captain Acid's "How Do You Hide Your Love?" 2CD set of Goat's Head era alternate mixes, versions, and outtakes. Most of the versions there blow away the final products. But Goat's Head Soup is a very underrated album in my opinion. And along with It's Only Rock N Roll, it really suffers from some terrible production/mastering. Both albums sound muffled, flattened

Quotelatebloomer Anyone know who the lovely black girl with the afro is? She is with Keith. I noticed her in a few of the tour shots. I think it's her again in the yellow bikini kissing Keith in a hotel room. I know, it's kind of frivolous, but I like to know all the little details. Jolie Jones. Quincy Jones' daughter. I believe others have surmised that she was about 16 years old at the
