Agreed, too many "back in my day" whines, many from those not even going to the shows. Wait a sec - "Hey, you kids, get off my lawn!" I hope we're not sitting next to any of these Debbie Downer buzzkills in Chicago.

I generally enjoy a few barley pops, but it's always been more entertaining watching the wasted, like the guy in Chicago wiping out an empty row of seats during the whooo of the "Brown Sugar" encore.

Dylan - tried over the years, but it didn't mean anything Clapton - tried early on after Cream, but it came off as soulless Grateful Dead - hey, I like jams but there is no fire Led Zep - Ok, but "Hammer of the Gods"? C'mon Wine - I tried to get into it when I was younger, but too much fruit - I'll stick with grains (beer and whiskey)

Saw the Chicago show that was curtailed. We took a bus down from Sheboygan that was quite entertaining there and back. 45 minutes and Page too sick (gastritis?)/zonked to continue. The show was rescheduled but tragedy struck Plant's faimily so that was that.

Sure, there have been some crap openers, but there have also been some good ones (J.Geils, George Thorogood, Peter Tosh, AC/DC, Alcie Cooper, Buddy Guy and Living Colour come to mind) and there will be probably be some openers depending on the structure of the "tour" which would be a good chance for them to pass on the mantle instead of kowtowing to old guys like us who want all Stones

Clapton was pretty snoozy and "Crossroads" was a tired take with no fire. So far, the show has "sounded" good but it is a telethon. Duets have sounded good for the most part, which usually isn't the case, so that's a plus.

It's strange seeing older shows and realizing you're older than the Stones at that time. As far as r'n'r age pioneers, however, there seems to be guy named Chuck Berry and some guys called the Beach Boys still doing their thing, so I wouldn't call the Stones the first to do this even in their musical genre.

QuoteTooTough 2:18 h - 23 songs - by nearly 70 year olds. Even if I wasn´t a Stones fan, I´d be deeply impressed. They could have blown this occasion big time. But under pressure they still deliver (as so many times in the past). Of course, we just saw 78yr. old Leonard Cohen clock in at over three hours AND he was moving a good deal of the show.

My sister and I were able to sneak into The Rosemont for one of their shows. In '75, about a month before the Milw. show, my sister, as a passenger, was in a car accident that left her paralyzed and, of course, unable to go to the show. In '78, she was in Chicago, but was at the Rehab. Institute and, again, unable to go. !981 and she was determined to go. She enlisted me to drive to Chicago and h

It seems a better comparison would be Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan. I'll take the Bard of the Boudoir over his Bobness in a heartbeat (or two).
