Congrats to the SF Giants! They played great down the stretch to secure a playoff spot and carried that momentum through the postseason straight through to a WS title. Securing 3 playoff series on the road is quite an accomplishment. A worthy champion in the bay city.

Also played during UTAH / DEN game. Made my attention perk up for a moment in a game I'm watching but don't care about. Perhaps more EOMS songs will be featured in NBA playoff games. If so, that will be an interesting piece of marketing for the EOMS re-release.

Cool. I'm getting the sense that with this recent American Idol night, forthcoming Exile rerelease and Fallon Stones Week, some bigger news may be in the offing. Then again, my sense has reliably failed me.

Nobody I know gives a hoot about who plays in the SB halftime show. I've been to plenty of SB parties and the halftime reaction is always the same no matter who is up there. A piss break for some, a smoke break for others and an email check for the remainder. We could easily return to the days of J. Timberlake / B. Spears / Aerosmith type halftimes and no one would care. The recent run of top

I wonder if there will be a "Concert for Haiti" or something similar. It will be interesting to see how the big ticket musicians collectively respond, if they do so at all (setting aside private donations). Nothing like the 9/11 concert happened for the 2004 Tsunami victims and recovery.

Ahh ... my namesake! I go back to this album often as it was one of the first one, two, or three I ever bought on CD (can't quite remember as I was 13 at the time ... anyway it was purchased prior to, or concurrently with, LZ 4 and Sgt. Peppers). I still go back to SW often as there are plenty of memories there and plenty of good tracks (IMHO of course). The Steel Wheels tour was my first big

A 16% reduction in Sir Mick's net worth ain't so bad relative performance wise in an awful, awful 2008 where a 30%+ reduction in net worth was par for the course.

Federer is a total bad ass on the court, and a great pleasure to watch. Unless something very unusual happens, he will go down at the best to ever play the game. I also think he is the most dominating player in his sport right now. Tiger is great no doubt, and just won his 7th tourney in a row, but he is not totally dominant like Federer. Interestingly, ESPN.com ran a poll last week asking who wa

The elements will conspire against the Saints here in Chicago. Bears in a lower scoring contest. 20-13. The Belichick / Brady combo is quite formidable in the big games, the Manning / Dungy combo is not. Pats win going away 31-20. Given my betting performance on NFL games, you'd be advised to do the opposite of the above.....

In Chicago, we have 3 major stations that play Stones music. While I don't listen to public radio all that much, from my listening: One station plays an eclectic mix of rock, and they provide a nice variety Stones tunes, if I would have to pick Stones songs I hear more than others, I would say IORR, SFTD, JJF, and ATPTB Another station is straight classic rock with a "lighter" ed

Watched the show tonight and will not be watching again (if the show isn't pulled by next week). Belongs in the large trash heap with the majority of US sitcoms.

1. Best London/Decca cover: No opinion on this one, bunch of good covers but none jump out at me as "best" 2. Best Rolling Stones Records cover: Sticky Fingers -- instantly memorable, even people who are not big Stones fans know this cover 3. Best CD cover: Voodoo Lounge -- very cool -- just like the CD 4. Best live Album cover: Stripped (if this counts as a live album) --- jus

The warhorses seem to be ones that get the heaviest radio play, at least on U.S. radio. Then again, I'm not sure if that is the result of the Stones deciding they are warhouses. Chicken and egg type thing.

In my three ABB shows, I found TD to be particularly uninspired along with MY (although I do have a certain bias against MY anyway). That said, the ABB disapontmets were few, and the highlights many.
