QuoteJMARKO I'm guessing this is the raw footage from ABC-TV's 20/20 piece about the 1981 tour. Rona Barrett interviewed Mick and the live footage was mainly from You Can't Always Get What You Want from Detroit. Looks like they had quite a lot of access. This is the typical stuff that runs under a voiceover: "it takes a team of blah blah to set up the massive stage" "at 40 year

Quote24FPS QuoteBig Al Quote24FPS Leeds is for the Europeans who want their own version of Hampton. I Really? I don't think us Brits and our European neighbours quite that like that. I mean, what geographical attachment is someone from Milan or Lisbon likely to have with a recording from Leeds, exactly? So, Europeans don't think of themselves as a group? They're called 'European Tours'. Okay

Quoteflilflam There can be no doubt that the Stones are playing at a very high level at this time. But they were truly awesome in Austin, Texas in 2006. Keith's solo guitar work on Under My Thumb and Oh No, Not You Again were near perfect. Hmmm.

QuoteBlackHat Given that there was talk about such an album coming out in 1999 I wonder if a running order or track listing was prepared. I don't think the age of the tracks comes into it. If a "new" album focussed on the Voodoo/B2B albums then the tracks would come from a four year period. So they would have a kind of unity. As long as they appear to have come from the same place and t

Quotecarlorossi QuoteGazza To dust off 20-30 year old songs, add overdubs and pass them off as 'fresh' material would be something that would be of dubious credibility Indeed it would, but I took this whole conversation to mean that they do the Tattoo You thing but not try to pass it off as new. I know, the question then becomes "why7", but it worked for Plundered My Soul, so why not

QuoteDeathgod I also heard a story that a good friend of Daintys wife was flown to the shows in the US as Dainty had said 'this will be your last chance to see them...' Maybe he/she had a terminal illness?

No. There's no comparison. The leftover material is too old. The stuff on Tattoo You was mostly 2-4 years old with a couple of songs being 8-9 years old. If they were using that sort of time frame now the oldest material would be leftovers from their most recent album. To dust off 20-30 year old songs, add overdubs and pass them off as 'fresh' material would be something that would be o

You,the person who - under various monikers - repeatedly posts utter delusional bullshit about the Sons of the Beatles taking over the music world, who is still obsessed with a Beatles/Stones 'battle', claims that Mick is'fighting' to keep ticket prices down and the band only doing these recent shows because of the wishes of people on this board - are calling ME 'naive'? OK...fair enough.

QuoteBlackHat I hope there will be more but it would be great to have a bit more variety. Hampton 81 and Leeds 82 appear to have virtually identical track listings. I know there are completists out there and there are nuances between shows but two virtually identical sets of songs are hardly enticing. Wouldn't mind a Voodoo Lounge show and on a personal note 11 June 1999 at Wembley. Dunno if

QuoteJumpinJackOLantern QuoteGazza QuoteJumpinJackOLantern The ticket pricing issue is just so complex that I don't think we can put the blame solely on the artist. The damn scalpers have made life miserable for the artists and promoters unless you think the promoters are in with them in some grand conspiracy. I think there needs to be tougher laws against scalping. Tickets should not be allowed

I agree. Ludicrous example of the overimportance of celebrity culture - and if they leave this nonsense to a public vote, you can only imagine the type of here today, gone tomorrow bubbleheads who'd come top of the poll. Plus, I always thought you had to be dead before you could be on a banknote. I know thats the case with postage stamps.

First was a toss up between Bruce in Manchester or his 2nd Dublin show. The other show I saw (first night in Dublin) was a notch below as the sound wasnt that great for the first hour. Was in the pit all three nights. If pushed, I'd probably give it to the 2nd Dublin show due to the number of surprises in the setlist. The Stones opening night at the 02 would definitely be up there too. Much be

And do you think the prices will be, say, halved in 2013 if there are no guests? the recent shows were indeed very good and I enjoyed the one I saw more than any Stones shows Ive seen since 2003, but they sure as hell werent worth £400 for a ticket in my opinion. Quotesuperrevvy QuoteGazza Quote21stcenturystones why do a PPV first, if you are going to do a tour. doesn't make sense They didnt 'do a PPV first'. Every PPV theyve done since 1981 has been followed by dozens more concerts. In some cases, theyve even been in the same country. G, that is a weirdly distorted claim. In 1989, it was the last USA show with the PPV only shown in the USA and no i
