Quotekovach Quoteflacnvinyl On May 28, I think The Ogden () seems to be the consensus. The folks as Rocksoff and Shidoobee have declared that to be the spot. Menu looks good, and anywhere I can have a 32oz Stone IPA is alright in my book! (the more bitter and hoppy, the better!) Is that a short safe walk to the United Center (or a shuttle)? Do they have parking? Yes a safe walk to the UC.

Good for the Swiss. They played well and deserved to win. Clearly they used the larger ice surface to their advantage. The Euro teams have an edge against Canada and USA in this regard. To their credit the Swiss employed a suffocating neutral zone trap, and stood guys up at the their own blue line forcing the USA to dump and chase. With the bigger ice surface this is rough on offensive teams that

Quotemcgeez8 Quoteflacnvinyl What about good breweries in Chicago? Preferably within walking distance from the L.. Revolution Brewery is right off the Damen Blue line stop. also Half Acre is a good one, but not really near an el. Haymarket brewery is Randolph and Halsted. Excellent beer bar and easy ride to the UC at Fullerton and Western is Quenchers. Nearby the UC sort of is the Twisted

Just remember they were widely abused in 1969 for charging all of $7-8 for tickets. So it has been for every tour since then. If they can get it, good for them. People don't have to buy the tickets.

Clearly a talented guy. Too young to go at that age. I'm gutted to have just lost a very close friend yesterday that just turned 60. Sad, sad, sad today.

Quotekowalski QuoteKoen Quoteletitloose I'll stick with my Gram vinyl albums thanks I always found those to sound very treblish, which made it difficult for me to listen to and enjoy them. Maybe the new CDs will sound much better. The new CD's have a very well balanced EQ. Never had the chance to listen to an original vinyl but the MFSL remasters have that warm sound (even on the CD layer)

Well, the good news for me regarding the show at the UC in Chicago is the perk of being a club level(200 level) season ticket holder for Blackhawks games. We get first rights to our seats(along with Bulls season ticket holders) for concerts at the UC so this should get me in the door to my regular seats with some luck. Based on the stage location section diagram 231 is right up by the stage. I se

I saw them play this at Alpine Valley in 1989 and it sounded great. Good tempo, and the mix from where I sat up on the hill was very good. I thought this was one of the nuggets from the setlist that day. Had they played it more often it would have translated even better to the stage. IMHO this is one of the best songs from the much maligned Dirty Work LP.

First Doors album, Morrison Hotel, and LA Woman should remain top end of any killer album list. Funny this thread came up, as I put these 3 albums on the hard drive of my car this morning. The 40th Anniversary box set is recommended for those interested in the catalogue. Although the bonus tracks don't do much for me, the sound quality of this material is very good at volume. I rate the Feb Do

Grace has always been outspoken. She did front a very good band back in the 60's. I saw the Airplane 3 times and they were always great. All of us are guilty of not being very diplomatic with comments sometimes, but our slip ups don't show up in the press. Not saying I agree with Grace regarding age and playing music, but for me she can say what ever she wants. She was a big star years ago, and w

This album should have been a double lp. It would have stood up as one of their greatest recorded achievements. The outtakes from these sessions remain one of my favorite plays over many, many years. The raw cuts have so much power even with the compromised sound quality. Love this stuff.

How very sad to hear this news. Alvin was a talented guitar player and vocalist. He helped make the band Ten Years After a rocking outfit. I saw them 4-5 times back in the late 60's early 70's and all the concerts were excellent. I Play Ten Years After lp's once in awhile and they still sound great. Alvin left us too early. He wasn't that old.

Dave Alvin usually rolls through Chicago a few times every year, and I try to catch him and the band over at Fitgeralds. Always entertaining and a fun night out.Highly recommended.

Brilliant. Great this has been released. Stew was a wonderful player, and its clear Laney loved having him onstage with this band.

I always understood this to be a Ronnie Lane composition, although Woody's vocal was soo good they left it that way. Pretty sure I heard Mac say Ronnie Lane wrote it with Woody. The tender lyrics in my opinion point to Ronnie Lane as the author. A Faces classic and a perfect ending to a great album,

Quotedcba Quotefilstan I was at one of the Grugga Halle gigs in Germany.Think they had the same amps though that they used in the US.Ampeg? Could the voltage difference (110/220V) have an impact on the sound? I remember reading a George Lynch interview (I know...) where he said that in his US studio he realized his Marshall amps sounded better when they were fed a proper 220V instead of the

I was lucky enough to have seen the Stones on the 72 and 73 tours. From my experience, the sound on the NA tour in 1972 differed little if any with the sound quality of the following European tour in 1973. The venues were probably a bit smaller in Europe which might have slightly enhanced the sound for the audiences for the 73 tour. I was at one of the Grugga Halle gigs in Germany.Think they had

QuoteRockinBud Quotemstmst Was at the KC show in 72 - as my buddy put it - 'you could feel the wind coming off their amps' - no shit - loud but good. There was a point in Gimme Shelter after the lead that the guitars both hit the rhythm hard and the intensity was beyond belief. The difference back then was that they really blew thru the songs for maximum impact - 72 was Keith's top moment as

Would love to hear outtakes of this song along with other tracks on LIB. They have to exist above and beyond what is currently available. I love the sound Jimmy Miller was able to get with the Stones. Monkey Man is a top end production on all counts.

I thought the sound from the 2 shows I went to was quite good, despite the relatively poor accoustics in the respective buildings. In Chicago at the evening gig on the 20th of June at the Amphitheater I ran down the aisle towards the stage when the Stones came on. The mix down there was excellent. I think they were still using Ampeg? The Denver Coliseum matinee gig with miracle seats up front als

That the Rolling Stones are out there putting it on the line is all that matters. If they didn't want to play they wouldn't. They have nothing to prove to anyone but themselves. They did only 2 songs last night which is fine considering they had a gig to do the next day. They sounded just fine to me. Enjoy these guys while you can. Remember this is supposed to be fun.

QuoteThe Sicilian The Phoenix show sounded great and I hope the rest of it shows up some day. I like both the Phoenix and San Diego recordings we have. If more quality recordings surface(hopefully someday before we all are gone...)then it would be exciting. I loved that tour. Still my favorite.

QuoteTheDailyBuzzherd Count me in the minority as preferring the studio version most. Love the live version, but again, there's something very APE about the studio cut that comes from the core of The Stones. Everyone's on there, despite Brian on the outside of sorts. Keith is at his rubbery rhythmic best, and if there's one complaint, he sure could use a partner to spar with, as if he was

MR may be one the greatest tracks ever recorded by Jimmy Miller with the Rolling Stones. Charlie is way up front in the mix. One of Charlie's greatest efforts in my opinion. Keith and Charlie drive it and Mick is a man possesed with the vocals and harp playing. Bill just keeps the engine room steaming hot. The band is simply dialed in. Within this song is the essence of what made this band great.
